I'm sorry it took me a while to answer, but your input had me doing a lot more research on basic rigging techniques, which is ongoing.
So I'll be reading up on rigging before posting unnecessary questions.

I'll be setting a high pull line. I'm actually switching from steel wire to bull rope, because the lighter rope will be easier to place above crotches in the tree (the cable clams got stuck to often).
And yes, I'm using a griphoist with a shear pin. My loads...
