    1966 stihl 040

does anyone know specifics about this saw? From what I have gathered it’s a 1966 40th anniversary saw they came out with for one year.... but does that make it worth anything? That’s what I can’t get a answer on. It does run and is in decent shape considering the age.

    Knots VS. Carabiners

First off I’m not a climber nor do I know a lot about rigging.. but I do know most all climbers I’ve ever worked with have a plethora of clips, pulleys, and carabiners hooked to their harness they use. I have a climber that’s working for me now. He’s 47 and has been climbing for 30 years. He...

Has anyone heard of Duratech ???

Is it possible that the first engine they used where actual cat engines and the newer ones are Kubota? The only reason is when I called Duratech and talked to the chipper mechanic he did mention something about this and said the newer machines were Kubota... or are they both Kubota and they just...

    What do chips weigh??

Barks probably lighter than I think.. Oh I’m pretty sure I’m over “legal” weight when my trucks are loaded with 10-12 yards of bark. I just mean the box still dumps and the tires and suspension seem within a safe tolerance for driving around town. Lol. When I had the same amount of chips in...

    What do chips weigh??

Just curious what do you guys think a yard of chips weigh? What wood is heavier vs. lighter. The reason I’m asking is because I have a couple 1 and 2 ton trucks. Both can haul and dump 10-12 yards of bark all day without seeming over loaded. Chips on the other hand seem a godaful amount...

Has anyone heard of Duratech ???

Thanks Tim, that’s great to hear. I do get a little nervous posting because I know some forums like to take advantage of the smell of inexperienced questions. Although I’ve been in the Landscape industry for 14 years and have been a part of a lot of Tree Work I still like to ask the questions...

Has anyone heard of Duratech ???

I’ve been around quite a few chippers and I’m pretty “mechanically handy” I would say. No play in the disc. I did change out the knives and adjust the anvil. I still consindered the knives pretty sharp but the guy I bought it from insisted they were dull. And wow, I was amazed how much better...

Looking for climber in kent Washington

We are a landscape maintenance/tree service company (mostly pruning) looking to add more focus to the tree service side of things this year. We are looking to hopefully build a working relationship with a climber. Either a contracted climber that is insured or we are open to putting someone on...

Has anyone heard of Duratech ???

It’s has controls like this on both sides... this is what I’m most worried about. As I know this all leads to electronics.

Looking to be pointed in a direction to buy climbing gear for a beginner. I guess what would maybe qualify something good for a beginner would be price, support, and comfort. Either by brand or a good website with some info on what to look for would be great! I own a landscape maintenance...

Has anyone heard of Duratech ???

The guy that had it owns a excavation/land clearing company and purchased it on a online auction thinking it was a 20” and he thought he was getting a awesome deal. When it showed up he realized it was only a 12”. He did have a new larger chipper at his shop so his story seemed to add up. He...

Has anyone heard of Duratech ???

I ended up purchasing the chipper. No where near what the asking price was so I think I got a good deal. I did some chipping today and it seems really nice. Only scary part is it come with a lot of technology and computer components /switches.. we’ll see.

Has anyone heard of Duratech ???

I’m trying to gather some information on the chipper brand duratech.. it looks like they specialize in larger tub grinders and forestry equipment but I found a good deal on a 12” chipper made by them. Any info would be awesome. They kind of look like and remind me of a bandit. There is...
