KM3 Max. Like 6 years or so of use between 2 hanks.
Pros:
-Tough tough cover.
-Does not absorb much rain and saturate.
-EXTREMELY static.
-Easy to manipulate in the canopy.
-Very little picking or fuzziness.
-Deals with sap/pitch really well.
Cons:
-Horrific knotability.
-Hurts like hell...
I have a Ramsey HD-P8000 on my 2023 Bandit 15XP.
The drum holds 200’ of 3/8’s Amsteel with 5 layers.
-1st layer (0-40’) Max pull 4700 lbs.
-3rd layer (80-120’) Max pull 5900 lbs.
-5th layer (160-200’) Max pull 8000lbs.
It has a 133 degree temp planetary duty cycle.
If you only kept 80’ of...
I just recently bought a monkey beaver 2.0 with a 2.0 suspenders, it is probably the most ideal thing for large removals and a saw hanging off you.
I ran multiple different tree motions for well over a decade, and they are superior for pruning, however, heavy removals with a big old saw was not...
It was intimidating, failed lead would demolish the home!
Depends on budget. The decay on the previous branch removal is pretty bad, but it did not seem to breach into the remaining stems by much. I personally would still install a system just because the target area is huge.
One season...
I put in a bid to install a cable system in the 2nd-3rd largest sycamore in Oklahoma. Was going to have RigGuy make me custom 9/16’s” terminations for EHS. Was assuming five 9/16’s cables and three 3/8’s.
A 100 ton with two winches was going to be brought in to give me a floating tie in point...
I believe I’m going to wait a season, but go with a TW 280VGTR, mostly because FMI is a local dealer and sells them.
I have heard about longevity issues with the Forsts. Apparently, they are very high production, but are easy to abuse and cause everything to fall apart.
He is my “tree dad” haha, not a Taylor. I believe he has been in TCIA a time or two. They do alot of unique crane stuff. He comes from an iron worker background hanging steel.
You can drive an XL or a Lariat.
I have used them for many years and they are worth every penny, the ground crew can remove them about three times faster than traditional slings.
It’s kinda like going from a Blakes hitch to a hitch climber system. Once you try it, you couldn’t imagine your...
Just wanted to give a recommendation on slings and to my “tree dad” Nick Taylor Sr a shout out.
I learned on the first gen of these slings, and the second generation are even better. Without a fought the tasters and most easily fine tuned set up for the tree industry.
When I started learning...
I have played with the big Spyder Crane in Tulsa. Like 70’ of stick.
The company, (now operated by Save-A-Tree) has had it I think 14 years, it goes out every week.
These newer chippers are going lighter in construction. The BVR 19 reminds me of the AX17. I wonder if they are 20+ service year machines, or will fall apart in 10. Everyone is trying to make the ultimate under CDL right now.
Bandit has reliable 25 old year designs, and they may be heavy and...
The closest thing we have is a Bandit 90XP and it is starting at $105,000 bald eagle bucks. I’m curious though how long the European chippers last, it’s not uncommon to see some here. There are 20 to 25 years old still in daily use.
The 90 XP is built incredibly well, but it’s extremely heavy...
Give you guys an idea of their purpose. To my knowledge, Forst is the most capable and high performing brand, but some folks are saying they rattle apart, and chip too aggressively causing premature wear.
Looking for something light weight to be easy on the landscspe, and be able to fairy/workboat it to various locations on the nearby lakes easily. My 15XP weighs 8800
I am moving to N.Idaho/CDA And I’m considering adding a small 8” tracked chipper to the fleet in a year or two. Debating between the TW 280VGTR or a Jensen Spider A550XL with winches.
I would have a Timberwolf/Morbark dealer local, but the UK forums seem to point to Jensen being supreme.
I...
Started with a 2001 Jeep XJ and paying for roll off containers. A year later I financed a 2011 F150 for $10,000 and bought a $1000 car hauler. That $400 a month truck payment seemed so huge and scary at the time.
Paid the truck off in 1.5 years working 3 days a week as an employee, and 2 days...
