I think you'd be fine but don't quote me on it.
I would think that since the crane will never see the full weight of the tree you'll be alright. Might not hurt to through some ropes on it and guy it to some nearby trees so you feel better.
What flying squirrel said.
I did two stone dead 30 inch DBH ash removals yesterday for another tree service.
They tend to just get crispy as long as there isn't any new decay in the tree. Basically anything smaller than 4 inches seems to just explode when rigging or just whacking it.
I had...
We just ask them if they wonder why we are all wearing hard hats and to only come back over if they have one too or offer them the old smelly one we give to the new guy.
Which happened once, old Asian lady came busting back out of her house with like a miner's helmet with a built in headlamp...
Had a dude from somewhere out there stand in his yard arms behind his back the entire time we raked up his yard. I don't think I have ever felt more uncomfortable in my entire life and done that good a job raking.
Agreed, the crane op had a rough time with the tree in general. The sun was directly behind the tree so I had to try to guide him in and have him move around the rigger. And then from where I was it was hard to see if the cable was plumb or not and the rigger was new to it. I was actually...
Do you understand the difference between SRT (stationary or single rope technique) and DdRT (doubled rope technique)?
I am just confused by some of your posts:
My understanding is that SRT isn't something that is generally taught at line clearance companies.
Tell me if I am wrong.
Also one time someone swiped our ratchet strap that holds our saw box in the back of the chipper for a shittier one.
I heard a bang, looked in the mirror and there was the box of 10 saws sliding across the road flipping, opening and ejecting only my own personal saws about the road.
Yah he said he hadn't really worked with anybody who wanted to do rigging like that.
I like Jeff though hes a good dude, well they all are. I like the Leimeister crane crew.
Yup, he doesn't care for it really it seems.
He likes big equipment, big jobs big wood type shit. To each their own, but hes going to give me all of his pruning jobs to do on my own when I start working only part time for him which works for me.
Agreed the crane I normally climb with has a much better tie in situation. I've thought about buying the treestuff crane thing but there are a lot of shiny things to buy.
Yup that is how the boss likes to do it, but I'd rather spend time with slings and take bigger pics assuming we have the room for it. And a few of the pics were pretty close to the roof so there wasn't much room for error.
I had to walk that guy through each piece which wasn't bad but there was...
When there is transparency the crew feels empowered. Some bosses don't like it though.
We used to get the job prices on our work orders. I do all of the pruning work for the company I climb for because the boss doesn't care for it, he would rather spur up a tree to prune it as well. After...
In my area the problem I have is not so much the terminology used with clients. As someone earlier said you need to just speak the language of the person you are talking to and I feel that is on the money. The problem is that there are so many dudes with chainsaws who worked for one of the big...
