    zigzag plus with 12.5mm rope

I should have been clearer. I was speaking of no adjustments necesary with different size ropes ive used the zz on, as opposed to a device like the rope runner, which i also liked using but i like the zz better. I needed to adjust the rope runner when changing ropes, and i dont with the zz. But...

    zigzag plus with 12.5mm rope

Good point about self tending. I do have to tug the tail a bit with the half inch arbormaster, but it doesnt bother me.

    zigzag plus with 12.5mm rope

I use my zz plus on half inch samson 16 strand arbormaster and on 11.7 24 strand Yale blue moon. It works great on both with no adjustments of any kind. Maybe just a bit smoother on the blue moon, but smoother and less hassle and adjustment than a FRICTION hitch on both ropes. Out of the box...

    Simplest, strong anchors

Speaking of anchors...I'm still pretty green with Sr t. I usually wrap the tail around the base of the tree several times to help make sure it doesn't slide up the tree when I put weight on it. Is this a baseless concern? I just have visions of a single base wrap sliding up the trunk of the...

    Neck tether suggestions?

Maybe I'm being paranoid, but I'm leery of anything around my neck that might snag, especially if I slid or fell. I use a large, crossed loop of webbing that I put my arms through to form a sort of chest harness.

Replace Sling on Big Shot Launcher

I guess im not using the search properly. I looked up big shot, and this thread came up. Then it started referencing threads about buckingham gaffs and other threads that had nothing to do with big shot. Its happened to me before. I look up a topic on search and find nothing, so i post what i...

Replace Sling on Big Shot Launcher

I just got my first big shot. Does it matter whether, when pulling back and releasing, if i have the throw bag on the under side of the pole or the over side (on top) of the pole? Just as an aside, that sling is harder to pull back than i thought it would be. Lots of power in that surgical tubing!!

Stable braid End to end splice

Here is the finished splice from the samson manual. Is there any way to avoid the double width at crossover?

Stable braid End to end splice

Thanks davey. Double braid class 1 end for end splice? Looking in the samson splicing book it looks like there is an overlap section where the two complete lines lie side by side before each is buried into the other. So i guess using it with a pully might prove difficult.

Stable braid End to end splice

Situation: fairly new 200' length of half inch stable braid. And so, of course, what happens? Damaged right in the motherf@#$ing, go@@*mn, a$$ reaming middle of the rope!!! So, would it be possible to splice the cut ends together, and would that be advisable? Or should i just live with 110' and...

    Sherrill tree scam

Sherrill is having a 12 days of christmas promotion on facebook. I signed up and the next day received a notice that id won a prize. It prompted me through a couple steps then asked for credit card info. I got suspicious and backed out. I think this is a scam. I think sherfill has a security...

Carritool advice...From my tree motion user's.

I have used the small Carritoolo on my weaver cougar for a year or so. It worked pretty well, but you could tell it wasn't the most rugged thing. You're not supposed to hang your chainsaw from it, but I did frequently. Handy for looping line on and hanging stuff so I didn't drop it. I decided to...

    New suspenders

I'm thinking about getting a set of suspenders for my weaver cougar. Weaver offers them in elastic or nonstretch nylon. If anyone has used them can you comment on one over the other? Are they any good? I would think elastic would stay more snug, but I wonder if they would get stretched out of...
