I definitely think a hub or plate would be an upgrade to a delta, but if you don't have one I still really appreciate the redundancy of a back up or equalized multi point, on a less then bomber anchor or high re-directional. Sling and biner to a delta or ring and I am feeling better...Thanks for...
Just looking at the pic and the green markers, but my thought is that is the exit point for the opposite eyes and there is a tapered cross over to keep diameter more uniform. ??
The only negative I can think of with an ultra or other adjustable sling is the in-ability to move your redirect without removing your rope from the ring. Normally not a huge deal, but if you are using a sterl biner or snap to terminate it can become a pain in the back side. I like ultra's...
I believe that for ascent a rope grab would be an adequate back up. The main difference as you stated is that the ASAP is multi directional. However , my understanding is that the ASAP and similar devices are designed to engage in "abnormal" uses...i.e fall or gear failure. I have used one a...
I just picked up a 28" 8 mm epi in a silent auction package. I have used it a few times with the wrench and as a secondary MRS system...still a bit stiff. Hopefully it loosens up a bit. Very hard to beat the HRC me thinks...:birra:
Anyone looking for additional information on x rings and the story and evolution of them in the arb industry...I would consider checking out David Drivers pod csst on Educated Climber. It is a fantastic story and @Muggs does a terrific job with all of them.
Enjoy...
Because it is a friction saver and not a splice on the end of the rope you actually remove the core entirely. Then you taper and complete your eye on one end. You now have an eye with left over core exiting the cover. The length of the entire cross over is 11 inches. Then you complete a second...
Hey Joey,
I believe they do make smaller malions...theae are 10 mm I believe and they come in 8 and 6 mm I believe. I already had a couple of ovals I purchased on sale at my local outdoor adventure store and grabbed the triangle at Ontario tree climbing championships a couple of weekends ago...
After just reading a post about spar aerial reacue, I have also realized if you want to be very progressive you can always have a tail long enough to reach the ground and you also have an access line for rescue
Switch to SRS ascent, purchase a quickie and use a cinching alpine butterfly. Grab your cinching loop with your flipline and ascend the spar... You always have a back up, a emergency repell line and is retrievable to whatever length you set the tail.
Just my .02
Stay safe
Super great comprehensive video. I have recently been focusing on my throwline and throwline technique so this wss just what the Dr. ordered. Great tips and I will have to give the girth hitch a try. I have been using a slippery anchor hitch lately. I also find that visualization has improved...
The retrieval ball will definitely work, but I have found with my limited experimenting that a simple overhand knot will easily pass through the triangular delta and block on the oval
Will post a pic once I can get it to uplaod...does anyone else have trouble?? Gets to approx 20% then has a line strike theough it and it stops uploading?
Finished up my MACA (mid-line attachable canopy anchor) Thanks @MikePowers321 and @swingdude for the concept and providing a picture. The 16 strand was kind of a pain in the ass, but not terrible. Time consuming but no blisters or rope burn. Also had my first chance to use my Brion Toss Arbor...
