Seeking advice, trying to preserve a huge burl

"Local", like the level II one that I go to every work day? There are some others, around(ish), not sure how receptive they'd be. Did find out that a gallon of Anchor seal goes for about 48-50 bucks..

Seeking advice, trying to preserve a huge burl

ideal... there in place forever acceptable.... a few years, if cant, cut it up give to turner friend , make some cool pieces unacceptable... not try anything, watch it crumble away. (especially if I cut it at the ground and relocate it)

Seeking advice, trying to preserve a huge burl

I've heard "anchor seal" a few times now going to look into. Lots of great input. I really appreciate everyone's opinion. Especially those with/or having had some similar experiences. I'm hoping for the best. I think worse case (still good imo) is multiple pieces. Preserving whole seems tough...

Seeking advice, trying to preserve a huge burl

lots of great advice. There is a cavity in the top at the cut. Does covering it, temporarily( I'm thinking tin maybe), make sense? Ideally, flushing it, binding it(to keep from checking), keeping it indoors would be the choice. Then placing it somewhere after sealing as an outdoor piece is kind...

Seeking advice, trying to preserve a huge burl

I have a friend that I keep supplied too, and usually get something awesome in return. That tree has sentimental value to a lot of people that are buried here and I just don't think someone "stumbling" upon it would have the same connection. I was more thinking about preserving it in place, not...

Seeking advice, trying to preserve a huge burl

We recently had to remove a large Oak (Scarlet) that has a gigantic Burl at the base. Everything but the burl is gone. Any tips on how to preserve. I've had my eye on this thing for years hoping i would never have to deal with this. The "can I have that(s)" are coming out of the woodwork. Its...

Help with new employee/ language barrier

I have added someone to my team, A great person that I hope sticks around a long time. We use google translate often. I'm just wondering if anyone has and literature in Spanish they might be willing to part with. I've already purchased tree climbers companion, ANSI Z133 from Isa. Just putting...

Another bites the dust. 800 year old tree removed. Possible faulty work order.

Too many stupid people. Patting themselves on the back saying... (one of my biggest pet peeves) "Looks better" Really awful news. leave the venerable trees alone!

    Tree Work Vehicles

That tool truck, had some thought put into it! Do you have some engineering background? The load handler ( what a great name, lol) I had one, was never as efficient as your video. Straight walls, gravity, width of mat.. all important. Keep posting @ 27RMTON

    Lightning Threshold

Is there any validity to counting the seconds when you see a flash to the sound of thunder to roughly calculate miles? radar on the phone is the tool now. 5-10 miles away is my comfort zone. Luckily not in a scenario where lightning is the difference between profit margins...humbly... definitely...
