    blowing out the cobwebs

Thanks man. I have no idea about the type of climbing involved in the assessment but i doubt they would be to happy with the rope angle on that first limb walk ;P

    blowing out the cobwebs

I spent a couple of years playing around With hitch's and hitch cord combos . I found a knot that will self tend and grab reliably but I always set it by habit anyway. Volcano hitch cord and a 3 and 3 vt that collapses into a 2.5 and three

    blowing out the cobwebs

Well its finally the end of felling season and what better then to head on out into the forest and have a swing around in some trees . I went down to Baden Baden today to meet up with a couple of friends and to have a climb in their training tree. Needless to say I'm a bit rusty after being in...

    robinia removals with crane

haha it was just an old scab I opened up , looks worse then what it was. We do a lot of robinas here and you do sometimes get stung ..... worst one was up underneath my fingernail, it stayed there for a week until I could pop it out.

    Crane work

Finally got around to doing a bit of editing ..... I've got loads of clips just hanging around waiting to be used and watching @Stihlmadd s recent clip gave me a bit of motivation . We were here in 2014 removing some large trees and came back a month ago to finish the job off. Everything was...

Do we really need to deadwood????

Cheers man , I didn't read the top article until just now . @JontreeHI it's great work , we deadwood paths so most of the time just traverse along cutting back the larger deadwood, sometimes you can get away with not starting a saw up for half a day .

Do we really need to deadwood????

Thanks mate, awful tragedy that is . I only briefly skimmed through , am I right in assuming that that branch was alive at the time of failure ? It said something about a freak accident ? . I'm more specifically wondering about deadwood though.

Do we really need to deadwood????

Great thread guys. If I'm pruning street trees i will do "correct" collar cuts but if I'm in the woods (yes in germany we deadwood in the woods) or in specific places that i feel will benefit from having more habitat i will leave stubs and might even do the odd coronet cut. Im very...

    Stihl ms 150?

Great saw for pruning , epic little thing. Majority of the work we do in summer is with handsaw and it really takes the toll on your shoulder , the 150 is the perfect in-between machine , the pico chain leaves a really nice, almost handsaw finish.
