Maybe you can get the cheap stuff and do some testing and see if it is what you are looking for. I have found that all nylon double braid and nylon core double braid make good kinetic recovery ropes. You just need to know how to use it and not expect more that the rope can give.
That is called a parallel core. Very common with kernmatle rope. That sucks you did not get a braided core. I hope you find some good short lengths for splicing.
That is a very good possibility. Tachyon is also difficult to drive home. I always take a tachyon splice out to my splicing tree and give it a real good tug until the splice closes. Sometimes I need mechanical assistance.
A wire fid is the way to go. I use #14 THHN copper wire. I use electrical tape to fasten the core to the wire.
Try using a 5 to 1 or a winch and tension your splice between two anchors. While under tension, use a prussik to milk the over back to the throat of the splice.
The quick answer is no. The only way to do it right is with a generator rated for the load and connect the whole house. If a freezer is the only concern, just use a portable generator and a 10 awg extension cord and you are good to go. I never recommend back feeding power into a customers house...
I really like splicing that Samson double braid. Now if you really want peace of mind, have it broken in a test bench. It is very rewarding to see the data on a splice done right.
I like to climb DDrT with an omni block 1.5 as my TIP. The omni's swivel is nice to have up there. I support the omni with a basal anchor. This is really slick. I also like to use a rock exotica large swivel on my bridge. This helps with orientation but it can make things a mess if you are not...
