What Do You Guys Think of This Climbing Job?

I think that picture is not enough info to condemn the tree. Need more pictures and info. Regarding the power lines. If you maintain the proper distance, electricity will not arc over to you. However if you don’t feel comfortable working near those lines, then don’t do it.

    Stein Arbor Trolley for sale.

Yeah man. I found this thing invaluable for so many jobs. We loved the Dingo when we could use it but often times the trolley was the only way because of tight quarters or low impact.

NJ LTCO exam September 12th. Anybody have time and place?

Just like the title says, I was approved to sit for the exam and sent in my exam fee but can’t find any specifics on the time and place on Wednesday. I emailed them with no response. Anybody else know what’s up?

    NJ Board of tree experts.

Based on their requirements, I am not eligible for the LTCO. I have 3 years continuous documented experience as a business owner but not the 2 year education to go with it. I have way more than 5 years experience which would eliminate the education requirement, but it was not continuous or...

    NJ Board of tree experts.

Yup this is correct. And as I understand it, each day not in compliance can count as an offense after that. It will start to add up quick.

Combination of documentable experience and education doesn't add up to enough.

I am sure there are some that can sympathize and some that will tell me tough shit but here goes. I started my business 3 years ago in NJ. I have been on and off again in the industry for 13 years. Unfortunately a lot of my work was in other states, contract work, side work etc. in other words...

Excellent post. I have some worker’s comp issues as well right now. I started a different post so as not to hijack this thread.

Worker’s Comp in NJ. Who’s got it and who do you use?

I am going into my 3rd year state assigned risk pool or whatever. Essentially I had to guess payroll for first year and pay that all up front. For the first two years that worked out fine. This year we got way busier and had way more payroll. I knew I was over my estimate by a lot and I...

Moving away from working for homeowners to more of a b to b business model.

This sounds like the perfect scenario to me. This is what I want to try to establish.

@flyingsquirrel25 I have the same outlook as you. There seems to be plenty of work for everyone around here. There are different companies around here filling different niches and I see no harm in collaborating on things when it helps both parties.I have no problem working with other businesses...

Moving away from working for homeowners to more of a b to b business model.

@TimBr We are in central NJ. Not looking for specific interest here so much as other business owners feeling about the need for such a service and how they would approach it.

Moving away from working for homeowners to more of a b to b business model.

What are the pros and cons? We are small, just the two of us. Chip truck 12” chipped, Dingo with BMG. Rent crane or lift when needed (rare). No payments. I don’t want to get bigger but am tired of running 7 days a week. My strong suits are doing tree work and working on all of the equipment...
