    Out on a Limb Tree co is looking for one or two climbers with at least 2 years of full-time climbing experience. no crane work, no bucket work, no topping, no stumpgrinding - 60-75% pruning from hedges to 150 ft douglas fir trees. removals are generally technical and not huge. owner is a climber...

    wow. well, i guess it's good news that this conversation is between men but i am a bit depressed to see that we are still arguing about whether or not women can be climbing arborists. when i started posting here (2006?) i was pretty much the only woman who bothered with all the sexist bullshit...

    Ascent Event from 2015 on?

    open ascent event will not be part of prelims for itcc 2014, but may be for 2015. if it's run this year it will be more like the head to head event. last rules committee mtg is tomorrow and i expect the final rules will be online shortly thereafter.

    Are the proposed 2014 revisions finalised?

    should be available any minute now on the ITCC page - final review in process. women should train to foot lock 50 ft, and the time limit for A/R will be 5 min for everyone. a few other big changes, but i'll wait for that to be announced officially.

    Ascent Event from 2015 on?

    open ascent event is in the mix, but not for 2014. the rules committee has been discussing possibly moving foot lock out of the preliminary events and making it an exhibition event (like head to head foot lock currently at ITCC), to be replaced with an open ascent event. IN THE MIX, not here yet..

    daniel, the author of the article is cass turnbull - she's a she. just fyi. she's had a huge impact in these parts on the pervasive mis-information that trees "should" be topped. lotsa toppers still out there, but the public is much better informed thanks to cass.
