Haven't used one but a buddy just replaced his beat 1590 and went with a new 18" bandit with a gas motor. He loves it. He says it chips faster than the diesel partly because when the auto feed stops a piece it recovers faster.
I can understand growing a business on a budget, as most of us can. Imo I hate bringing in subs.
1. You are constantly working around someone else's schedule. It will always lead to a PIA.
2. As you mentioned, quality of outcome is now in someone else's hands. The customer will not remember how...
So I have wondered about the whole sugar in the water bit. For my entire childhood my family always put sugar water in the tree stand. Well then I learned tree bio. I dont get it. Roots don't absorb sugar from the ground. I believe the benefits of adding sugar to be a myth. Thoughts?
We were not wearing coms at the time. Nothing the guy by the chipper could have done. By the time I saw it happening it was too late. Valid point in coms being amazing and an excellent tool for prevention of accidents. Thanks for all the well wishes.
Well here is a tale that has multiple mistakes to learn from. Thankfully I escaped with "minor" injuries. Here's the scene:
My crew and I were felling white pines into the woods and cleaning them up. I was felling and my crew was alternating between running the chipper controls and staging...
Never leave chips in the dump box. If at most dump the next day. I just want to avoid rotting my dump boxes. And the chip truck is absolutely a portable restroom. Either 1 or 2 depends on diet. Just be a civilized human and do the cat scratch when done.
I bought it about 2.5 yrs ago. I do not know the hours as the hour meter has never worked. I never bothered to replace it. I simply perform maintenance based on use. I teach full time so I only do tree work on weekends vacations etc. I am also a small company so I am on every jobsite. So it...
Sorry the price is $10,500. Idk where the tag would be. Mine doesn't have one. Instead some of the SN is welded on the frame. I called Altec and they were able to look up the machine using those numbers.
I'm selling my 2003 Woodchuck WC17. It is a 12" disc chipper and everything works as it should. It has a 4cyl John Deere diesel motor. I just had the brakes and wheel bearings done, newer water pump, plenty of tread on tires. Comes with an extra set of knives. This is a great machine. I have had...
How firm is your 5k budget? I have a woodchuck wc17 with a 4 cyl. JD deisel that sounds like a great fit for you but it is not 5k. I am going to list it soon. It will be closer to 10 than 5. If you are interested let me know.
Financing is available. There are a few options. They all depend on terms offered and terms will of course vary from place to place. They will obviously depend on credit (for this discussion know mine is solid. High 700s low 800s). I looked into conventional auto loans and found that most places...
I have been meaning to post some pics of mine now that's it's done. Ill get some up this week. I went with an L toolbox behind the platform and the plywood storage in front of it. I think mine is pretty spot on. When I post pics I'll give feedback on it.
