Log Racks on Crane
No need for costly log racks, just cut everything into 7.5'-8' lengths and lay across the bed. Load the largest stuff first from back to front and choker loads on top you can fill the full 16' front to back and deck to the underside of the boom. reason for concern?
Judging from that pic, I'd cut 3' off the end and re-bind it. Like Mark said, however put the clamp on the tail, rather than the tail & main line. If old clamp is to big buy a smaller one & install. Leave about a 6" tail as well. One clamp should get it as far as I know, have been told... -

If the crane operator will not allow you to ride on the ball, ride the boom. Most crane booms should have loops at the end of the boom that you can put a rope through, or put a screw pin shackle in one of the jib ears for your rope.
