Kinda a noob question, but what is the best way to climb a tree that is leaning?
Lets say that the first 20ft is straight up, then its starts to curve toward the light.
Is it best to climb "underneath" the lean/curve, or above it?
This would be with gaffs/lanyard and a tip in an adjacent tree.
I looked into some type of ramp to put a mini-EX into the back of an F550 dump. Never actually did it, as a cam tilt trailer came along. But I found that the entry ramps for auto displays at car dealerships in theory should have supported the weight of 8k lbs.... -They show up on craigslist...
BTW, i am posting in firefox, and then i go to IE without being logged in to verify the post, and it seems after I posted the "plan" picture, the first 3 pics in the thread blew up.... I hate you google...
That's what I was thinking... I dont think its worth taking a chance on...
So my plan is as follows:
The Yellow line is a 5/8" static line to be used as a high line. -I still have to get a 5/8" trolley.
The Orange line is a 1/2" static for traversing, and the green lines are rappel/climbing...
Apparently google is not allowing my pics to be seen, as the pic i put in my intro thread is broken as well... i hate you google...
Looks like its fixed, I re-did the img insert.... weird...
I kinda have a plan to remove this.
I'm just curious what others think, if this is something you would attempt to climb/rope on.
Believe it or not, this tree has a full crown every year...
Looks good, what length rope do you guys typically run? I figure if the tree is 100ft tall: 200ft to go up and down plus another 50-100ft for ground guys?
Hello Everyone,
I couldn't find any structured area or format for introductions, so here it is..
My name is Aaron and I'm currently a hobby climber / chainsawer / everything elser; doing some work around the house and for a few friends.
I started climbing last winter and removed a few trees...
