Avant "Knee"

I got in and out a few times today thinking about this. Yea...it would be awkward if I couldn't grab the front bar on the roll cage. Get them a handle! I felt it would be worse on my right knee - but I'm left legged dominate, so might step differently than a right-legger.

That's good to know. We have a shop day today and we'll work on that. I'll try to get photos too.

I agree with @Friedrich about hanging your leg off/out of the machine… I’m even a little surprised it took that long in the thread to come up… I’d want all of my parts within the cab in the event of a rollover. I’ve never sat in a avant, so I have zero knowledge on the subject.
If I roll that machine I've got bigger problems I hope.

It's mostly when you're on it for long stretches. Knees bouncing off the interior.

i was thinking collision more than rollover.

just checked, a 528 avant with fops is 1950 cm tall. my intrepid 130 with heated cab is 2200 cm. might be the undercarriage or a more spacious cab. i‘m 6 feet and s little bit and there is plenty of space above my head and also for my legs.

I remember standing for long periods at the controls of a boom truck... I would get some discomfort not moving, particularly on cold days...I complained one day about my feet being cold.. i was told to get warmer socks..
Every thing we do can be cause for discomfort... Avant is a great machine, ergonomics and longevity in the biz are finally being recognized, long overdue imo. Hopefully most operators aren't dangling during high concentration moments.

This, yes most of the time the leg is in the machine. Lol.

Regardless, some pt for knees is probably a good idea. It's something I've neglected to research through the years. Last thing I want is me or someone else tearing something.
