They contaminated a significant number of private and community wells here. Trucked in bottled water and I believe installed alternative water sources..I read it a couple times hoping I missed something. PFAS spills and contaminated farms has been increasingly impacting Maine, largest spill was last summer at a previous naval air station where old firefighting foam containers dumped 55k gallons of mix https://www.cascobay.org/pfas-spill-at-brunswick-landing-a-letter-from-the-casco-baykeeper/
Hundreds of acres have no-eat zones for deer etc and closed dairy farms from contaminated soil. Lots of words in the memo, this is fleshing out just one.
It certainly looks weird. Thanks for doing a bit of legwork; I could very much believe it's not authentic.I'm not seeing anything about this letter on major news outlets like CNN, CBS, AP, Reuters, ABC, NBC, etc... I tried a few searches including Sharon Strickland memo and its all more "fringey" news sites.
Even the way it was posted on X seems sketchy.

I get you voted one way, but from a forestry and agriculture perspective and scientific background I do hope you find some of the rhetoric/funding/canceling concerning. Disinterested view while looking at what is going on with usda vs political/enotional etc. That's an article about a twitter post...not quite reaching the status of a full a news story - but that's about where we are now with "news".
I'm not advocating for anything in that memo....at all. Hoping, for our Nation's sake, it isn't true. I agree that there is some concerning language supposedly being restricted if it is legit. However, it doesn't matter which way I vote...I hold out doubt when someone makes an outlandish claim whether that is from the right or left. Never surprised when such a claim comes from a politician of an opposing party. I'm at the point where I assume they are all crooked until proven otherwise.https://salinas.house.gov/sites/evo...ia-document/banned-terminology-ars-letter.pdf
Second paragraph has the memo confirmed. Quick search with "usda leaked memo", this is from members of congress and senators
