It's a lot of ceu's annually I didn't think I'd pass. I'm still young and learning. I'm all giddy that I passed still.Sound like one awesome opportunity. Congrats on passing the BCMA. Quite the cert. Keep up the good work Sir. Hope you find who you are looking for.
Does your state chapter of ISA have an annual conference? Ohio does...I go to that every year and end up with about 15-17 each year. So that's 45 for me pretty easy. Do an online webinar every now and then (maybe 3-4 per year) gets me another 10ish over 3 years. I'll go to a few of our DNR Urban Forestry conferences that might be another 5-8 over the 3 years. Do a presentation for an Extension/Master Gardener class...if I needed the hours, I could turn those in after. Ohio ISA puts out a quarter publication with a science article. Read that and take a quiz for something (honestly, I'm not even sure how much that's worth...0.25? 0.5? - but its easy CEUs). This year I was going to be close, then I went to a 2 day Ed Gillman workshop that some folks brought to Ohio and that threw me over the top on hours...then I ended up with hours from another event and I would have made it without that workshop...but I would have gone to that workshop anyhow. It's a lot of ceu's annually I didn't think I'd pass. Yes they do. We're doing a workshop this coming week, shade tree short course, and climbing comps this year. The hardest part is being in limbo of business owner and consultant vs foreman and trainer. It's a big push but I'm hoping it keeps me adaptive and learning. I don't want to be stagnate. It also forces me to learn more outside of production mindset. I didn't think of forestry events, good call.Does your state chapter of ISA have an annual conference? All that to say: If you are actively pursuing growing in the profession and seeking learning opportunities to do so, the hours come. Just be diligent in getting credit where you can.
(and congrats on passing!)
