Not to derail, and no offense Southsound (mad respect!), so what?

I too have noted the nose-heavy condition, but oddly enough, but never noticed it when buried in a log. Why do we talk about things that ultimately don’t matter? Just sayin’…
Just chatting.

Brando is dealing with joint or back issues.

I can handle heavy saws, just don't like to do it too often.

When it makes sense, it makes sense to use a big bar and chain.

Seems that over 36", 0.050 isn't an option.

Because it actually really matters..
There is a reason swords, knives and other blades are best balanced near the hilt. Makes for much easier maneuvering.
Same goes for chunking down a 36” log at height greater than 50’. Also same goes for bucking logs or felling in the brush.
Sure pulling a big saw off the truck for flushing the random stump 100’ from the truck in someone’s back yard doesn’t matter much. All the rest though might matter 10-15% but that really adds up.
Hold your arm extended with a 3# weight and rock it back and forth. Then do the same with a 5#. Shit adds up within a work day.

There’s a local guy who has been porting 261’s, apparently they’re bananas with a 20”
I'm in the market for a new 261, mine has melted it's piston a couple of times now and the local shop is scratching its head as to why.

Does your local guy ship, and do you have contact info? I'd be interested to call for pricing and lead time.

Because you bought the 42" lightweight bar and it feels nicely balanced with the heavy powerhead, so it doesn't feel awkward and cumbersome?
It’s not lightweight, and it’s extremely unbalanced. However, I only use that saw for bucking and felling, not working up a downed tree, much less brush.

If I need that saw in the air, I refit the 32” and walk around the tree to make the larger crane cuts.

Does that make sense?

Would love to watch the cut being made and pick come off. Heck of an endeavor. Real test of staying level headed im sure
Wish there was one. But no. After the cut was made, the operator who was new frooze. I was like dude take it away. It was an 88 tonne palfinger. Well within range and chart. He frooze. I rapped down and sat looking at the madness. Another operator drove to site with the 150 tonne. Guy thought we needed to tranfer load. The operator took one look and used the remote to take the pick to ground. Easy peasy no alarms. The rest was uneventful. Same operator. Big picks all day. Loved that job.
