Subcontracting Opportunity

Steve Connally

Been here much more than a while
I wanted to throw out the idea of traveling for larger projects. I know all the storm work is done but I'm sure there's plenty of storm related work where a grapplesaw crane would be beneficial. I'm available for projects and would be happy to put together a price for a 5 to 7 day work period. The price would include travel, lodging and a small per diem based on an agreed work day length. Hopefully this would be a rate that would benefit us both.

I'm pushing hard to make this work. 6 weeks of down time and very little work in my market is leading me into slow season in a less than optimum situation. I'm hoping something can develop to at least break even in the hopes things turn around a bit this spring. The alternative is a huge decision that doesn't not come easy so I'm basically making the last sprint to see if I can make the finish line.

If you're interested in an estimate let me479C9FAB-088D-42A8-AC8D-8845FBA518CC.jpeg know. Worst thing than can happen is you don't like the numbers. No harm no foul. Hope you guys had a great thanksgiving.

Steve, all the best of luck to you moving forward to keep the wheels turning!!
May have to change your web name from craneva to craneusa!
Maybe adding your chart to any marketing you put out could help sell your services, as well.

The website is another story. I hired a marketing company and they gave me the hard sell. Totally cool with my low budget. Willing to work with me but then I wasn't increasing my budget and google was hitting me for $26 a click for nothing and I kept asking why, they fired me. After specifically discussing them making me a landing page but being able to turn the old site back on like the push pf a button they have suddenly gotten amnesia. My old site is gutted, full of malware and nobody can turn it back on for me. So when I have the $1500-2k I'll get the site back up because it has all that information on it. I can't justify it at this point because the next update is honestly looking like a for sale sign. There so much more to the conversation than th load chart so I hope thats not the thing people are determining the usefulness. I have come to realize how many people who "understand these trucks" truly do not so I prefer to really flesh out the conversation to see if I'm a fit for them. So much more nuance than a stick crane. Anyway, point taken, thank you.

Wellllll… not sure I had a point beyond wishing you well in your journey and that by the sounds of wilingness to go further distances beyond Virginia maybe crane USA could have represented your larger service area!
I do understand what you mean about feeling out your clientele, the chart is just information that really only matters to you operating the truck at the end of the day and if they hire you they are empowering you to use it. I know a guy in Maryland area who’s on the fence of buying one, this summer he was going to come up and see mine operate. Maybe if he’s up for it , some time with you onsite and he’d be more educated in his decision. I can reach out to him if you’re interested.

Steve, you’re OVER qualified to work most jobs, and should not have any problem when discussing your inherent value package with anyone that knows what’s up. I wish you luck, and will also be putting you in touch with a gent up my way who’s going into “removal season” up here with lots of very large, dead Beech trees. You can stay with my family for as long as you like!

I was just having a conversation. Just talking not pushing back or counter arguing.. I'm happy to have him take a look or have a discussion. I've had a lot of people come visit and spend some time with me while operating. I don't have any work so it would all depend on that but he's welcome to reach out. I can also go to him if the bids support the expense.

I’m with you, Steve!
I did not take it as argumentative at all
Just explaining your situation,
it’s all good man. I sense my bold post wasn’t representative best of what I was trying to convey. ;)
I’ll see what he says
Hoping for you his schedule could allow you to go to him and do work!
He’s a stick crane guy but sees the value of the grapplesaw trucks
Figure there’s no one better to show him what’s up.

Thanks so much. I may not be better but I'll take closer for the win!!! In a perfect world I'd own both. I'll probably get my Boom Truck cert this spring just incase life changes and I need to be more marketable. Who knows whats in store. I'm driving 4 hours round trip to do some pruning with a several times over world champ. Looking to really get back into climbing and who better to spend time with... Should be a great day.

Hi Steve.

Have you had any interest or inquiry? I have been contemplating dp the same thing with my setup. Hopefully you were able to find something.

Nothing out of my usual market and locally it's been awful. I didn't clear 10k in January and will be lucky to hit 5k this month. The last 18 months have been tough. Before that I was killing it and about to order a second truck. Thank goodness for that voice in the back of my head screaming wait.

I try to listen to only that voice anymore
