Arborist Helmet Storage

Who has any good photos or links to legit helmet storage inside a truck cab or elsewhere?

I like to keep my helmet immediately on hand when arriving to the site. I don’t want to fish it out of my gear bag, and it seems my passenger seat is often well occupied with bags of gear, lunch, tools, etc…When we arrive, it’s helmets on when you step out of the truck to communicate about parking, job debriefing, unloading, set up, etc.

Having a Protos with integrated face shield and a comm unit mounted to the side, I feel it requires a good bit of care to find a safe spot for it to live in my truck. I admit this is in part due to the overall lack of tool and gear storage in most trucks, mine included, but I’m thinking about some sort of rack that can mount to the back wall of the cab between the seats, or maybe even to the passenger seat headrest…whatever…Show me whatcha got!

I always thought a basket that attaches to the headrest could be a good spot.
I just keep mine on the seat or behind the seat.
Eventually I’ll get a gun rack for my axes and hat.

I made hooks outta coat hangers.

Also hang extra with a "V" shaped hanger that is screwed into the back plastic -whatever in back of truck. It sits at and angle so points away from back window leaving room to hang a helmet.

This:

Also, I have an extended cab truck...with read seat removed, but the headrests are still there and make a good helmet hanger.

I make a good effort to keep my helmet out of the sun. In a van shade is easier to find than a pickup.

At one time I found a bag that was flat top and bottom with a zipper closure on the flat side. I used a piece of corrugated yard sign to stiffen the sides.

Thanks, y’all. My F650 has really limited space. It’s a regular cab, so there is zero space behind the seat. I think I’m going to try something that hangs from one of the passenger seat headrest posts. The back wall between the seats but above the center console looks tempting, but I’m not sure how I’d connect anything real securely there…haven’t looked into it too closely yet, but it looks like the panel liner may be sturdy enough for the job.

I have an Isuzu at my mechanic’s place. He almost has the re-machined head back on the engine. I miss that extra cab space behind the seats. Can hardly wait to get that thing back!

Measure the headliner, cut a 1/2 aluminum a little big and wedge it in the plastic trim so it forms a firm arch over the headliner like a covered wagon. You can connect hooks or whatever to this.
Or just screw it to the internal trim plastics if you don’t care about the holes

My protos typically rides on the passenger seat, which can be annoying if it faĺls in the floor while driving. Two extra helmets hang from their chin straps from the factory hanger hook above the passenger seat.

I'm daydreaming of a spot on the shelf of my trailer as I get it set up, for the helmets to sit, with a little fan and UV light that will dry out and disinfectant (to avoid odors) the foam inserts. With our humid summers these helmets can get pretty nasty over time.

Having an extended cab is perfect for me, and although I keep cramming more and more climbing gear behind the driver and passenger seats, the bins I keep there provide a great place for all my life-support gear with the helmet right on top for easy access behind the drivers seat.

And I do have a gun-rack, just because it's a good place to store my camera tripod and hang my ear-muffs. The camo seat-covers may look a little redneck, but they came with the truck and I haven't felt like wasting the money on replacing them. But also, I may have a little redneck in me :p

Yeah...I wouldn't want to have to find new places for everything I have in my extended cab.

Seat covers: I had to look at those for a second to see they were camo after you posted that. I thought they were covered in plastic!
