This is rigging!

This thread got me thinking and I started tinkering. Tried it out there on the ground and seems very promising for actual rigging and such. I don’t have a welder and I didn’t necessarily want to weld a socket permanently to my Hobbs so I ground out two sides of a 2” socket and fit a 7/8” pin through the holes on the Hobbs capstan. Seems to work pretty great and its removable. Just another option. I’ll try to get some more media of it’s use.

Well, after using the gas powered drill and a battery drill, it doesn’t work nearly as well as I’d hope. There’s not enough torque on the drill to generate any substantial lift. I only used it on the one job with a reeve and then a block in a false crotch so I need to experiment a bit more but I was a little disappointed. I think it would be more effective on a harken.
