24" on a 550XP mk2

Yea, nothing like climbing and limbing with a 70-80 cc saw hanging off ya, and that’s the easy part. I was the ripe old age of almost 16 when I first went to Alaska, and I weighed in around 145 soaking wet. After 3 seasons of rigging trees and dragging an 40 ft long, inch and an eight choker around the brush I was 185-190 lbs of pure fucking gristle. I wouldn’t last half a day doing that nowadays, and I honestly don’t think I could pull one of those big old skookum blocks up 150 ft, let alone set 2 of them.

I climbed about 80 feet up a tree hauling a Jonsered 2095 with a 36" bar once. Only once. Was too tired to get the saw up to chest level to make the cuts. There are better men than I am out there.

Stronger maybe... but better? Prove it.
Don't go putting me in that category. There is a lot of better men than me. Time does not make men great, just old. How much knowledge one acquires and puts into use, along with skill level, which is accomplished through actual practice; one's character, all contribute to a person's rank. I am a long way from the top list. I've had a full life. Been a coroner; a homicide detective; airline pilot; electrician; tree feller; photographer. And in each career, there have been better men, and women than me.

Sounds like you are living an interesting life. Not past tense just yet.
Thanks, Noah.
Not done until they run me into the furnace. But I doubt I will embark on another career at this stage in life. Just ride it out with what I am doing now. I'm still having fun. My photography gives me the most pleasure these days, and I get to hang out with the ladies while hiking about the country.
But we are off track from the 24" on a 550XP Mk2.

i stuck a 24“ bar on a 290 out of necessity, worked ok for straight cut‘s in oak. would‘nt wanna attempt diagonal cut‘s with such an underpowered setup.
