The family with the Leyland pines went on vacation, so I was able to start working early in the mornings (think just after sunup) when it wasn't so hot.

I was able to get all of them cut below the fence top except the one at the far end. I'll get in the yard on the other side of the fence to get it after removing what's left of the other ones. I gave the yard debris folks a nice load, and they picked it all up before the family returned. Maybe they'll get enough sun in the yard for the grass to grow now.

I've gotta find a project that involves climbing.

I used my pole saw to remove all the limbs I could reach on the last tree. I rigged a pull rope to my Accord, cut the notch very carefully, added some tension, and made the back cut.

It fell just clear of the shrubs on the right with just a swipe on the oak limbs on the left. Got the whole project done with no damage. The pile on the street got a lot bigger.

HOs on both sides of the fence are happy, and that's what counts most.

Deadwood removal for my older brother’s son. It is his neighbor’s tree and they said go for it. Nice climb and my older brother was my groundie.

Worked with a local tree service today and my assignment was removing a dead/dying columnar Oak. These upward growing, crispy, twisted branches were a big pain in the ass but I can say that having another person working the rigging line sure made things easier. First job I've done with another person and it really opens up how you can even think about your plan of action.

Pruned off old fronds today. Most palms don't survive to get this tall in my area.

Removed a broken and hanging limb

and a dead limb from a neighbor's pine.

Cutting up the limb while it was hanging and using the HO's yard cart made the job easier. The shrub with vicious thorns right where I was climbing wasn't helpful.

I sure did enjoy the climbing after the first six feet, though.

I've passed on several requests to work on palms because of the dangers of having the mass of dead fronds fall suddenly. The tree services here always use bucket trucks on palms.
