That one spruce needle that quietly hides in your clothing all day until after work you are perusing the grocery store for some good food for dinner and then suddenly, it happens! The spruce needle exacts it’s revenge on you for slaying the tree it came from! It pokes you in the nether regions in such a way that you do not care who is watching, what their age is, or how traumatized they may be if they see you with your hand in your pants. News report reads: “Man wearing funny looking pants and foot jewelry (ascender) arrested for inappropriate behavior in a grocery store.“.

What’s wrong with Poison Ivy? You mean it makes you itch or something? I can roll in it all day and it doesn’t bother me!
Same....barely a reaction, if any.
Virginia creeper? Different story, although I'm starting to build a tolerance to that also. Was in it a week ago. Have some small effected areas on my forearms. NOWHERE near as bad as I used to react to it.

That’s funny, I am the same way. I cannot touch Virginia Creeper on a sunny day, or I break out and need steroids to manage the boils!

That’s bizarre. I’ve never heard of anyone reacting to Virginia creeper. Is it inherently poisonous or is that a sensitization?
It doesn't have oils like the ivies.
It's more of an allergic reaction....me thinks.

It is an allergic reaction, the same way Poison Ivy is. The sap is the allergen though, so as long as I don’t damage the plant it doesn’t bother me.
Also, it is a photosensitive allergy, meaning that sunlight will cause a more severe reaction - the sap on my skin, on a sunny day, will cause me to break out in a terrible rash, with big blisters all over. It’s itchy, but more than that it’s quite painful. A topical steroid will knock it down in a couple days though.

This is the first time I've ever heard of Virginia Creeper being a toxin.

From what I’ve read / seen there’s a small window after coming in contact with it to get the oils off before you have a reaction. The actual cleaning product you use isn’t as important as friction. Think of grease from a vehicle or equipment. You really got to rub hard with something to take it off.
