If you live in the U.S. and mail a climbing harness to Canada, do not pack it in a box that originally housed 10 pounds of Milk Bone dog bisques. It was impounded by Montreal Customs because their drug sniffing dog began pawing at the box.
I am still trying to get it freed up and they have had it now for 4 days. 2 emails and three phone calls and I am hoping they will turn it loose sometime this coming week. Turns out their dog gets a Milk Bone treat when he finds some drugs. Probably thought he hit pay dirt.
Hang in there Matt, it will get there sooner or later.

That’s funny! That poor dog was probably terribly disappointed when he saw that the box didn’t have any treats in it. And customs probably had a good laugh over that one too.

Now if they would be so kind as to turn it loose. I think they are trying to get even with me.
That could be. Customs officials often seem to specialize in stalling. My father used to manufacture power plant components, mainly wear parts, and shipped a lot to Canada. They were always getting held up, or just plain lost in transit.

Who wudda thunk it?!

My custom's story...

Trip to Wales. My luggage of choice was a North Face Haul Bag. I sold it to my arborist buddy who I was visiting.

Needed a cheap duffle bag for my gear for the last week of the trip and flight home. Couldn't find one cheap enough so I got a sturdy cardboard box and packing tape for the flight.

WHile standing in line to clear customs in ATL I saw a guy walking up and down the line with a cute beagle on a leash. Doggy had it's own work vest. I thought doggy was part of the welcome committee. Then I saw the lettering. US Dept. of Agriculture sniffer for fresh produce. Hmmm...interesting...until I looked down and realized that the box I had was sturdy because it was used to ship fresh LETTUCE!!! I thought I was headed to deep inspections. Doggy walked past and didn't miss a step. Whewwwwwww!

In my experience, nearly every power plant component is a wear part!
That may be, I’m no expert there. I know they made a lot of coal nozzles though, and gas nozzles, as well as the parts necessary to convert a coal plant to gas. I think those were their main specialties.
