Saddle setup (picture thread)

Looks like a lot of stuff.
It's really not though (to me atleast) haha. Just a redirect sling, prussik loop, 8, second system, pocket wedge and some biners. Oh and my knee ascender. Everything is extremely useful to have up with me.
Loving this thread! Anyone else fly with a scrench? I had an old sherrill wedge pouch with the velcro scrench holder but it gave out. Thinking custom kydex(sp?) or another pouch with rugged magnet as backup.
I always always always have a scrench in my pocket. One time I misplaced it somehow and had a mini panic attack haha

I always have a scrench in my little pouch. Working solo especially, or just in tall trees, not being able to fix a thrown chain or whatever without coming down is a big hassle. It is almost never used, but it is an insignificant amount of weight/space and having it is sure helpful on those rare occasions.

Many shiny gear hooks, too.

I've carried a second climbing system in case I need it. Never have needed it. I have a second rope end for a tautline/ Blake's hitch for a DdRT/ MRS, if needed.

Generally, I carry three slings and biners for light rigging (with or without rigging rope), sometimes to keep a natural crotch rigging point or redirect in place, and will use them for an occasional, non-critical, redirect. They also come in handy to redirect rigging ropes back to me for self- lowering and a couple double-whip tackles for self- lowering and zip- lining (bring more as necessary).

Whether or not I have a ground worker, I try to stay self- reliant, leaving the groundworker with less tasks.

Aerial friction, whether self- lowering (frequently) or groundworker catching and passing the rigging line to me increases efficiency. Frequently, NC, or as needed, I will bring a BMS Belay Spool, Rig-n-Wrench, small POW, or use an hms/ wide-D rigging biner for a munter- hitch (choke a sling midstem where there is no crotch, if needed).

I blew a rivet on my MCRS, which was warrantied with new waist and leg pads. I didn't put my gear loops on the replacement belt. I am content with two rings to hang gear, and one paddle biner (taped open) for hanging my saw.

I have a mini- wedge, somewhere. If I am just needing to prevent a top from potentially sitting back, I can use a carabiner in the kerf. Generally, I cut a small top with hinge that I can push or snap-cut and manage by hand, or need full wedges and a short- handled ax to drive wedges.

Everyone does it differently.:)

I've not tried a fancy gear/saw hook. Anyone know one that works on a MCRS?

I wonder if it would be any help over a paddle biner that seems too do all it should, without snagging. Around $20, no bling factor.
I don't know that they're fancy but I love my small shembiners, cmi had the factory seconds for 13$ grab a holdway for 75 and two of those and you just make free shipping. The holdway is awesome I used it on a good sized oak removal again yesterday so much better than a block of you're doing and negative rigging or having big branches that have to swing over to under the rigging point.

i used to have a paddle biner but gave it away to a friend who started out.. i sometimes miss it. i really. really like my shembiners and dmm lockable hooks are nice to have but not essential for me.

I used just plastic caritools for 13 years before I finally broke one. Transporter is nice but way overpriced. Had a shembiner on there for awhile. Now I really like the Buck saw hanger, the green one.

the large caritool is not easy to break and if you duct tape the gate together, you won't loose it. but the small caritool is built too nimble for me :) yes the buck saw hanger looks nice, lower profile than the shembiner.
when my 2 shembiners wear out i will try the buck holder.
