Roe v Wade overturned

First, I hope you start feeling better soon...I have no personal experience with kidney stones, but understand that they can be excruciatingly painful...

I appreciate you taking the time to answer my questions..

Heal up and try and enjoy the long weekend!
Thank you. I feel much better than I did yesterday, but still have plenty of pain from the surgery. The stones were worse though, worse than my appendicitis years ago.

Always happy to answer your questions, I appreciate your reading my responses. I plan to enjoy a very restful weekend. If I leave the couch, it won’t be to go far! You enjoy your weekend too!

@Reach, ditto on the comments by @rico.

Maybe knowing your kidney stones are part of God's plan provides you comfort.
Knowing that somehow He will bring them about for my good and His glory does. I don’t know how He will do it, and I certainly don’t understand His plans sometimes, but I do trust that He knows what he is doing.

Thanks for the comments, I’m looking forward to feeling better and getting back to work in a couple days.

So @Reach you believe slavery is acceptable since the Bible is "completely true" and the scripture says it's allowable?
I do not believe that slavery, but it’s current definition, is acceptable in any way, and the Bible does not say that either. Actually, the Bible says just the opposite.

The word “slave” in the Bible typically refers to one who has “sold themself” to a master in order to work off a debt to that person. For example, I borrow a pile of money from you to buy a chipper and then fail in business, blow the chipper, and have no way to repay you. Instead, I offer to become your “slave” or “bondservant” for a time to work off that debt.

The Bible actually states that anyone who steals a person and forces them into slavery has committed a capital offense and deserves to be put to death.

For a much more in depth explanation than I can write here, see this article: https://emergencenj.org/blog/2019/01/04/does-the-bible-condone-slavery
It is a lot to read, so at least read the summary and the first part where slavery in the Bible is defined.

I keep saying Pro-Life is the wrong term, a misnomer, in most cases. Pro-Birth tends to be more accurate.
I won’t say you’re wrong, and in the case of a lot of people, you could well be correct. I can’t speak for everyone, but for sure not all who ate anti-abortion are as pro-life as some.

Personally, I believe that I am both. I am very much for the life of every individual, both those who have been born and those who have not yet been born.

Edit: I believe you are referring to the references in the Bible to capital punishment. And I believe that there are cases where the death penalty is correct. God has decided what those are, and as the one who created us, and gives us life, He is the one who is qualified to determine who no longer deserves to have that life. He is a just God, and a forgiving God, but still just and therefore sins must have consequences sufficient to punish that particular sin.

I'm all for a smiting-righy-now God.

People would know where the line is. Few would cross it.
He did that much more long ago, before He sent His Son to earth. There are plenty of places in the Old Testament, and even a couple in the New Testament where God struck someone dead or blind or smote them in some very clear way. Now He has allowed us to live under His grace, and while we will still all be accountable to Him after our deaths, He is more patient with most of us.

If He were to smite us every time we did something wrong, very few of us would live to graduate high school!

How does the death penalty fit into your stance?
I addressed that above, I believe that certain crimes are deserving of death. The Bible clearly lays those out, and they are sins, or crimes, of especially heinous nature. Premeditated murder, for example. The punishment for a crime should fit the crime, and taking a life on purpose is a most terrible sin and deserves an equally terrible punishment.

Don’t worry it looks like he’s using a Stihl, which means they must be legit.
True story. Last spring I was hired as a contract climber/faller by a Stihl only fan boy who turned out to be one of the worst sawman I have ever worked with. We started a 4-5 week long job removing 40+ largish Reds and on the very first tree he shank it a good 25 ft wide right and smashed my 562XP into shrapnel. Me and an old timer I was working with decided it would be best if we put our stuff to the left of his lay behind a grove of Reds. This fool proceeded to shank his 2nd tree 25-30 wide left center-punching the grove we had just hidden our saws behind. In doing so he tore a large top out of a Red and the top landed directly on my 550XP. 2 trees down and 2 of my saws destroyed. I should have packed my shit up and left at the moment, but I manage to stay on the job long enough for him to put bad fuel in one of my prized Madsen modded 395’s. That’s was fucking it.

Fuck man that sounds terrible. Sucks when people think just because they might invest in name brand gear they think it means they know what they’re doing. I don’t care whether your saw is worth $100 or $700, either or doesn’t necessarily make you a good climber / tree worker. A competent tree feller or climber will make things work regardless of the price of the saw right?

I might be in the minority here but I run a lot of Echo. Have a few saws by them. Generally like how they run, how easy they start up, etc.

Wow, that’s terrible! Impressive aim that he hit two of your saws so far off his target, but wow! I hope he paid for them! He sure should have after that!
