Log rite BTS Hauler

Location
Vail
How we doing tree buzz? I run a small tree business here in Colorado. I operate with a 3/4 Ton pick-up and a tandem axle dump trailer.

What are your thoughts on the BTS Hauler? I’m trying to keep overhead low right now, but I need a good way to get heavy material out of yards and to my trailer.

Just seeing the price on these, I wanted to see if there was any good feedback on them and see if it’s worth the investment.

Thanks,
Nick

Logrite makes a quality product, however I've never used this particular hauler. There have been discussions about it in the past that you should be able to find with the search bar.

Before investing in hydraulic equipment I purchased an arbor trolley. It's a step up from hauling by hand, but will still leave you with the desire to buy a mini skid. I still have my AT but it only comes out when ground conditions are too wet for the mini or I'm trying to keep logs that are too big for the mini, so I use both in conjunction.

I have a arb trolley, I debated back and forth between this and the BTS. I think I made the wrong choice as I’d likely use the other configurations this has to offer, thus using it about twice as much!

Personally I would use the money for the BTS as a down payment on a mini. Yes it is a big nut to choke on but it will make you money easier and faster than moving material by hand.
I built this E36889F9-87DB-47F7-A73F-5F685A48F900.jpeg
So I can move this with the mini

Yesterday I pulled a 30”x12’ white oak log out of a yard in Geneva National with no turf damage. Less cutting less mess less clean up time = more profit when moving large sections to the truck.
I know starting out is tough, been there, but a mini is what I should have bought way back in the dark ages of starting out.

Buy it.
Upgrade to the wider float tires. Throw in the Logrite Peevee. I ordered both items directly from Logrite. The platform to haul logs like a traditional ball cart never gets used so if you can save money skip that option. I remember total cost of BTS and peevee was around $850 shipped around 5 years ago. Worth every penny
I have never used the AT, but the BTS can definitely haul more material
I work solo and strap the hauler in 3 pieces to my chipper fender
Some of our Colorado landscapes (flagstone walkways) and small gates make a mini challenging
I started lurking on the Buzz after researching this hauler purchase. Back then, Chad? from Bees and Trees in Longmont had the BTS Hauler. I read that his employees preferred the AT. You might contact him to save money on a used hauler

Good point on market logistics. For me going through a narrow gate is an exceptionally rare occurrence. And I have only ever needed to remove a section of fence three times.
I appreciate the good beta. I definitely want a little dingo with a grapple. I think right now with the inflation, it might not be the best time for me to snag one unless a really good deal pops up. I was hoping to get something like the BTS to get me by and see if anything changes with the market in the next few years.

Thanks for the insight. Hauling cottonwood rounds by hand through a gate with one other guys sucks and I think the log hauler is the move for now. Appreciate the reinsurance.

A winch can help you move larger loads.

I modified a hand truck that has lasted for almost 15 years. It is a good compliment to my AT for mini- inaccessible jobs.

I'll try to get a picture soon.

I will say this. What if the market doesn’t change in five or ten years? How many jobs? How many hours hand humping? Can you still stand straight? Possible injury?
You know your market, but a mini will get you ahead faster and safer. Good luck with whatever you decide.
I started with a hand truck but once the mini came to be jobs that took two days were done in six hours. Just saying.

This is true. I will weigh out my options. Good beta

I'm without a good demo log, atm.

The "horns" get under the COG, and there is a built- in lever. Swivel beneath the log. The two add-ons cradle the log.
Skip the chains and hooks.

Use a $3, multipurpose, quiet ratchet strap. 16565313354913740329330645117222.jpg16565314352661559880498431842047.jpg

The "horns" extend the base. I could go up the three rounds, then added the fourth. 16565317371031448023347082971292.jpg
