Those look AWESOME!! Still have 'Lrg' 3-point dogs on my 2511t even though I don't (and fear) using them

(Is that set from ebayer "CustomChainsawParts", by chance? Have gotten my 660's and 590 spikes and skid-plates from them,
all have had OEM level quality cannot recommend them highly enough!!

Funny seeing an old thread where you see your couple-years'-old post and see it through new eyes.....dogs on my 2511t are there for combo of looks and protecting the front of the case (but mostly looks and am gonna remove them next time I change my chain now that I've thought about it, am glad this thread was bumped!)
Yeah I imagine it'd be very very quick, and the difference between snug and "so tight it's going to crack" is wide enough that this shouldn't be much worry, I do wish I knew more about loctite/thread-locking but suspect you *don't* need the high-heat variety for locking those dogs into their plastic-slots (hell a dab of any epoxy on a ttoothpick, jammed to the bottom of the hole / NOT smeared down the side of the slot, should be enough to achieve same thread-locked state)

Are you still using the 355? Thing's one of my fave saws out there, would've likely gotten it if the 33cc tanaka didn't fall into my hands....do you have any reviews or anything on it? Am especially keen to hear
your thoughts because, a year ago, if just buying-retail w/o much concern for price then a 2511t // 355t set would be my big&small climbing saws set, however I ended up getting a 2511 'clone' (scheppach csp2540/jon-cutter/farmertec, thing comes in 4+ badgings lol) and, upon getting my beefier 33cc/16" unit, I've found I just love my lightweight 25cc/12" and dread the thought of having a job where it'd died and I had to use 33cc/16" the whole job! But I'm a real small guy so I feel saws'-weights more than most
Talk much, buddy? Self-important ego or gaden-variety ADHD?
LOL. In hindsight, I do still have (DIY, 3-point type) dogs on my 2511t but I don't use them, I like how they look
but am so afraid of hurting the gas tank's plastic (where the dogs bolt-in) after, ~1mo ago, after removing another saw's full-wraps and getting sprayed by gasoline from one of the bolt's holes! Easy to plug in that instance but will forever be cautious Re "structural/anchoring points" that are 1-and-the-same with plastic gas tanks!!
Also I
never use the dogs on the 2511.....now that I ponder it I believe it's because it's "more of a speed/RPM saw, than a torque/power saw", so to speak -- when I try using the dogs, even if it's got fresh chain on its 12" bar, and I'm just 1-handing it, I can still
easily bog/disengage clutch, in fact it was so frustrating I actively avoided it, and've found (for me at least) that best / most efficient usage is just focusing on the sound&feel of the RPM's (oppposed-to just digging in with the dogs and seeing how much 2HP can bite....on the Live Oaks of my area, it's
'Not very much'!!
Will say I wish I'd gone and gotten the 2511t sooner though, honestly don't really use the 355t much anymore because the 2511 is fine for everything-til-trunkwood (or some limbs but it's the point you don't want a top-handle anymore..) And I didn't even port mine just did basic timing/muffler/etc work, IIRC you can push them nearer/over 2.5HP if altering the cylinder!

Editing-in some pics:
LOVE how small it is beside 355t & 590!!

and may as well throw this in since, IMO, most are "leaving a lot on the table" by not doing the muffler//flange area when muffler-modding this unit (you get nearly 20-25% more area/flow at that sharp right bend where the pulse enter the muffler!)
