Mosquito applications

Anyone here doing them and any successful results with particular products?

I've eliminated mosquitos around my house with permethrin/bifenthrin spot spraying. The labels are restrictive about where you can spray this stuff for given its toxicity to aquatic critters. I'd also be curious to know what the professional mosquito abatement folks use. I love doing what I can to make playing outdoors more attractive.

Bifen at our company with surfactant/sticker. No complaints but some folks want 2 week cycle. My brother does his own bifen around patio and swingset and is happy. Cant speak to label adherence as i dont do the apps. Im in mn for reference

Not all chemical work the best. you can create your own apllicant of citronella oil and organic coconut oil. Citronella asily repels mosquitoes and will not harm you skin.

Lemon and cloves for inside the house and black flag insecticide for outside.

cross-check worked well for me, I have been using dish soap for surfactant but read that it could affect certain chemicals

Im not a professional applicator but I've had really good success with Ortho Malathion Concentrate for the past multiple years. Only do two applications a year for the whole yard.

Garlic Barrier works as a biorational preventative foliar, deters skeeters locally for 2-4 weeks at which point another application may be required. Homeowner that don't want to go the route of conventional pesticides may prefer this service application in my experience.

You can make amazing progress by just policing an area for items holding water. A bottle water cap provides sufficient water volume to breed mosquitoes. Fun fact: Mosquitoes fly a total of approximately 100 yards in their life. Eliminate standing water within a 100 yard radius and you've solved your mosquito woes.

Mosquito dunks work well for standing water which for any reason can't be drained.

There is a giant puddle in the woods across from my house, on the neighbor’s property. Pitching mosquito dunks across the briar patch makes a big difference.

I've also heard mosquito dunks work well (have not personally used them), however if you use only bacillus thuringiensis frequently you may end up "breeding" resistance issues over time...
