Trees from a distance

Those look like Silver Maple leaves to me but I've never seen a leafing pattern like that. Maybe a really weird stress response to a crazy pruning job?
That’s my thought too, looks rather like a Silver Maple leaf/bark from a distance but the leaf pattern sure is odd. Maybe the tree was stripped by a bad storm in the past?

I thought ginko at first as well until I saw the close up. There was a storm that blew through last June that did a lot of damage. I was wondering if it could be a response to something the homeowners sprayed in the canals to control vegetation.

Forget the tree what kind of kayak is that?
I believe it was custom made. He has a couple of them. Jim is in his mid seventies and has a kayak obsession like we have gear or rope obsessions. Seems like he's always driving somewhere in the Northeast to pick up or drop off a kayak he has bought or sold. He was a flight attendant for the General Motors corporate fight department until they were dissolved. Now he paddles the Detroit River and Lake Erie year-round as long as he can find ice free water.

So cool! Thank you for the derail!

I'll take a turn, I've been waiting for a while hahaha. The big one, dead center. This is Elmwood Cemetery here in Detroit which is also an arboretum.
