Tree Austria 3.2 or maybe Weaver Denali?

Let me throw the Edelrid Treerex into the game. I've used one for two days, and although it was the wrong size, I loved it. If I had to get a new saddle, that would be it, mainly because of the factory adjustable bridge (certified!). But it was also super comfortable, not quite as good as my TM, but I'm sure that only had to do with the adjustments. It was certainly very close, even better in some ways.
Just sucks that it's so expensive over there, the regular price in Germany is 350€, so around $420, not $500 like you guys have to pay.

On the Sequoia, I have one (2019 SRT) which I use at work (need a rated top), and it's pretty good for rope course construction, but the few times I've used it for treework I was not impressed, not comfortable when sideways on limbwalks and such, and hanging an 026 on the side feels like a 880.
No such issues with the treemotion, and it's more comfortable in freehanging situations as well.

Courant koala is on sale for under 300 U$D (including shipping to the US) from Maple Leaf ropes. I don't have one but for <$300 I don't think you'll beat that. It's definitely the hot ticket saddle with all the Instagram arbs right at the moment.

For meeting your price point without sales I'd also recommend the singing rock timber 3D, it's what I'm running right now as my main work saddle, for $275 full price it's batting well above its league.

I purchased a Koala from Maple Leaf Ropes yesterday...I am a little bit nervous because there doesn't seem to be much written info on it, so here's to hoping...I currently have a 2018 Sequoia SRT (older style) that I do like a lot, but for the price I just had to pull the trigger to try the Koala out. I do find hanging a saw off the Sequoia will pull it down on the hip a fair bit, but nothing a quick tightening on the saw side doesn't take care of

I have nothing against the TM lite or otherwise but I never loved the way it felt on my body, and the price always seemed too high.

I climbed on the Tree Austria 3.2 for 2 and a half years. I had no complaints. Webbing bridges seem to last longer than rope bridges, and if it’s not your thing it’s easy to swap out and add a different and second bridge. I was not able to adjust it right enough for my waist (27/28) but I was also using suspenders so it was not a big deal.

First harness was Singing Rock timber as Cereal Killer mentioned. Cheaper than aforementioned harness and basically the same exact thing. Wore it till the wheels fell off.

I had a Tree Austria 3.2 with suspenders as well and really liked it comfort-wise. If it wasn't a size too big I would have kept it. I have a Treemotion Lite and like it better because it feels and fits smaller and tighter and just generally feels less big. I didn't like the suspenders on the Tree Austria because they are heavy and I couldn't get them dialed in right for me. I'm starting to think I just don't like suspenders or chest harnesses period though.

Update, the S Light came in and I tried it on. I'm a little disappointed. For a "one size fits all" saddle this thing sure is tight. I had a hard time getting the waist belt up over my upper thighs with PJ pants on. This might be one size fits all, up to 36" waist? I'm not a huge guy but not tiny either, I can fit into 34/36 waist pants... IDK how anyone much larger than I could fit. Am I'm missing something? With the waist belt tightened I only have 1.5" of extra adjustment.

I might need a buckle to make this saddle work for me. I dont want to look like this trying to put it on every day...

Sounds like we're about the same size. I've wanted to try an s.light but that is exactly what I've been afraid of. I think I'll just keep drooling over the MB until I finally break down and spring for one.

I read the book that came with the saddle and it says 30-41" waist... are you serious? How is that one size fits all? That's not even one size fits most lol. Maybe this one is on sale because they made the waist belt too short? lol

I could see my actual waist size with pants on being 37" but have a hard time believing its actually 39"... I might not be able to wear this over a set of chainsaw pants with an under garment on.

Honestly, it might not be that bad but its like putting on your pair of pants without unbuttoning them first. If it had a buckle it might be ok but milking them on over bulky clothing is going to be a chore and I see it getting old fast. I'm calling tomorrow to see if I can get a return or an exchange for the regular TM. Problem is, Gap Arb had the 2018 for sale, where Bartlett didn't...

If the S.Light is that snug then the standard Treemotion will be also. Aside from the problems of just putting it on, the side Ds will most likely sit in the wrong spot by being too far back. You might be bigger than you think.

I agree, I likely am larger than I realize. I understand I'm wearing it over clothing so just because I might wear a 36" pants doesnt mean I'll have 5" or room in the belt but I did expect to have more room than 1.5"... It seems misleading that its advertised as one size fits all but has a 41" limit in the book. Why don't they just say that? What kind of BS is that?

Maybe someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the 2018 treemo fits up to 36", while the newer evo and s.light are advertised as up to 39". So the 2018 that Gap has on sale might not be a better fit. Hopefully Bartlett will allow you to return it, it seems like most arb suppliers do as long as it hasn't been climbed in.

Agree with DSMC here... If the S.Light doesn't fit the regular TM will not fit...Get your money back....

I wear a 40" waist and my large has room to spare (probably 6-8" of waist belt). Doesn't sound like you need it, but there is an XL as well going up to 46"

In your opinion, would a guy of average frame with a 36" waist be happy with a medium or large MB? Do you think the side Ds would be too far forward with the large? Just curious as I haven't reached out to them yet about sizing. Thank you for any insight you provide.

Just a guess, but I'd say a medium would probably be your better bet. I do know before I purchased mine I talked with August and he said that as long as it is still like new condition he'd accept returns if it just wasn't for me or the wrong size. So as long as you confirm the size before you take it out for a climb, you should be able to send it back if needed.
