Fly jib rating

I’m just curious if anyone knows the rating for the jib on a PK62. I was talking with a new owner of one and he told me he was good for 5500 with the jib and saw head. Seems high to me

There are multiple jib configurations available for most booms in that side class, beyond that it depends on angle and extension (of course)... retracted, that seems reasonable to me.

I thought the jib for the head had a Fairly low rating. Maybe that is with the manual jib all the way in. I under stand radius and the boom angles. I just always thought the mek head had a low capacity at any radius because of the manual extension.

So the jib is actually the boom section that folds like an elbow. The manual extension is what most guys mount the saw on. I have a PK50 and my jib is good for 9300. The manual extension is good for 1540. The PK88 I have on order jib is 14700 and the manual extension is 2700. You see guys overloading their manual extensions with the saws all day every day on Instagram. I don't understand it really. The PK110 manual extension is something like 3700. No way his manual extension is rated for 5300. Perhaps he doesn't understand how his load chart works.

Thanks Steve. And yeah I used the wrong term. I mean the manual extension. And am I correct telling him the manual extension rating is it’s rating even right at the truck?

I told ya so ;) Steve’s right lots of guys are overloading there manual extensions. I often run my 220 just on the end of the fly jib when doing heavier pieces but still run it within the chart. I think most guys aren’t deducting their saws, gotta remember a mecanil 160 550 lbs, a 220 is 850 lbs, 280 is 1020 lbs with the rotator. That has to be deducted from your load. Lots of guys with no crane experience are buying these trucks and just going out and hoping for the best:confused: it’s just like a regular crane at the end of the day you have to go by the charts and play it safe.
