The Rope Runner Pro is definitely not rope fussy. But just like with a hitch, different ropes will produce different levels of performance.

Can you do a video of the RADS 3:1 with RRP, I use it all the time with my bulldog bone and want to see the difference and why it would be considered dangerous. Never had an original RR so I have nothing to compare with.

If you look at the Rope Runner carefully, you will see that it is backwards to the BDB, Akimbo, and even the Rope Wrench.

When you put a redirect on your climbing line for a 3:1 with the RR, the rope will be pulled into the pivot points. On all the others, the pivot points are on the opposite side, away from the rope and do not interfere with their function.

That's annoying, I use those 3:1s a lot, especially when I'm on spurs and don't have ascenders on too. Guess I won't be getting a rope runner. Why did they make the mechanism backwards? Always looked funny in the videos to have the top bit you pulled down on on the thumb side instead of the index finger side.

The haul back will still work, and is smooth when doing it, but obviously this quirk needs to be taken into account.

Sorry, I have not climbed on Vega, so I can not speak on how it would compare to Vortex.

Vega is an exceptional rope, and in fact is the best rope I have used with the Runner.....It milks like a mofo when new, but after it settles in it is pretty special....

In my experience, I'd say, nearly so (inspect/feel for abnormalities, of course). I transitioned to the Wrench 3-4mo ago (from the Roper Runner and Hitchhiker 2), and immediately, all of the ropes - every last one - that I'd been climbing on for going on 1.5yrs milked several feet. I'm using 200' ropes, but I'm never using more than 100' at a time (I use basal about a third of the time now, but the friction at the top diminishes how much core-cover slippage can come from the basal side anyway).
