Ultra Light Lanyard

i rather have something substancial. I always cary 2 steel cored lanyards. they're heavy, but I'm moving in a tree, not running a marathon so weight is not my biggest concern.

I'm using them for hunting season on public land, so I'll be walking a good ways before I get there, and I want as little noise as possible. I was thinking 1" UHMWPE webbing but can't figure out what to use to adjust the length with one hand

Maybe look at investing in a good cardio program instead. I'm joking. In reality, the weight issue should be addressed by harness selection. That could mean a difference measured in pounds. Shaving ounce by reducing hardware or using a 9mm lanyard line vs an 11 mm line is miniscule. Stick to aluminum hardware and fit everything in a backpack. You'll be able to walk for miles.

Do you know of anything that is light like that?
I do not, personally I would use a normal lanyard, perhaps tri-tech would be lighter than average, and call that good enough. As stated above, the saddle is the big difference. My Petzl Sequoia, for example, is about half the weight of my Weaver Cougar. Huge difference there, versus a few ounces difference in rope weight.

Also keep comfort in mind; sitting still in a saddle, any saddle, for a long period of time is truly a miserable experience. If a deer/squirrel/buzzard comes along three hours in, you may be so stiff you won’t be able to lift your bow/rifle/zipgun high enough to actually make a shot.

Do you need a lanyard - for what you are doing? I mean, no lanyard would save a pound.

If you do need one, chop 12' off that hank of predator and tie a knot.
