What’s your favourite lanyard set up

What’s your favourite lanyard set up
tried a few keen to try more
It all depends on the tree and tasks at hand...most times just one short 8-10 ft, hitch with a tender handles everything. Sometimes bring 2 or bring a longer lanyard and make both ends adjustable with another hitch and tender. Sometimes I bring a long CE lanyard with my zig zag on that if I need to repitch a lot to ascend.
No matter what I always try to get eyes on what tree I gotta do with the work order in mind and that's how I pick what lanyard I use along with whatever gear I'm bringing on the harness.
Try to go light as u can especially if your not strong or athletic.

Lately I usually climb with a 24 ft length of scion 11mm that I spliced eyes into both sides of with hitch cord and micro pulley for the adjuster, ct snap on the working end. I keep the excess daisy chained and clipped to the back side of my saddle. I have a second much shorter one with 16 strand, a rope grab and and a snap tied on for easy change out of the rope for sappy conifers. The rope grab deals with sap much better.

Yea with white pine, sappy trees I'll use a rope grab, or zz for easier cleaning on 3 or 16 strand rope

Yale 10.5 r.i.n.g. with a bola and the petzl eashook for spikeless, I think it's about 15ft

Petzl wire core (microflip?) With an edelrid steel snap for spike work. It's way too long at around 18ft. I'd like a 12 footer in 1/2" and a long one in 5/8" for the big stuff.

15’ of Yale RING on a positioner, with two burnt out hitch cords as English prussic retainers.
Word of warning, the positioner doesn’t like the 10.5mm RING when wet. It gets creepy, pun intended.

Like many others have stated, the length of my lanyard depends on the tree. My go to lanyard consist of a 15' length of Orange 11mm Yale Blaze with a Hitch Climber Pulley set up. I use Rock Exotica Oval Biners. I have a prusik installed between the Hitch Climber and the lock off biner so I can choke my lanyard off. I also use a prusik that I'll biner to on the tale end of my lanyard for that occasional horizontal limb that my lanyard is used to pull me out towards the end. I'll then use the tale for another point of attachment for positioning.

Zillion with the 5 meter rope it came with. I'll replace the rope with something else if I need to down the road.

I've tried lots of other options, but that seems the smoothest and most versatile got me. If I need more rope, I get a second climbing system or use the tail off my main system
I love my zillon but I replaced that horrible lumpy rope it came with, blaze rope is great.

Aside from climbing ropes, I use 15', 30' and 55' lanyards. I usually always climb with the 15'er, and haul the 30'er or the 55'er up to TIP so it's there waiting for me when I'll need it to advance or reposition. Sometimes I use a double ended dual-in-one, or maybe I'll use a Rads setup, or a throw hook and a GriGri, along with other lanyard augmentations, depending the tree structure and whether I use a SRS/MRS climbing system, or as a side Ds mounted MRS setup.

ISC alloy snap hook onto 25’ of 11mm through a Trango cinch.
I tail all the spare into a bolt bag that draws up one handed and opens one handed. I also attach a police type dog clip that I have filed the jaws on to fit the rope, this stops the rope pulling out past a point but is released one handed.
I also put a small Prussic on the rope so you can clip the snap hook around a limb onto the prussik and then descend on the Cinch using the lever on a single leg as an alternative , whils under full load .

I use it a lot, and almost alway carry it on my harness. I'm rarely using it around a large trunk, obviously. Usually when passing limbs or on limbwalks, etc.

I keep it on the right side and it's easy to keep it out of the saw, and out of my way.

I think if I could only have one lanyard to do everything, it would be a trango cinch with 25’ of beeline and a little ditty bag. The zillon is my favorite but the trango is an all around multi purpose, get’r done lanyard. Maybe a little longer for the big trees.
