Anyone Selling a FUSO 4x4 Chip Truck?

I'm interested in a FUSO FG truck to use as a chip truck. Anybody got one they've been thinking about getting rid of. I'd prefer a newer, automatic one. Also, if someone has had one and thinks they're total garbage, I'd love to hear about it.

Nate

I bought a 2005 fg dump last year with the intentions of fixing it up and customizing it to my operation. It has issues mostly related to rust, but it is outfitted with an aluminum I-pack toolbox. It operates fine, doesn't leak fluids, and seems to have decent power for such a small engine. I really like the truck, but I didn't find time to work on it last winter, and things aren't looking good for fitting it in this winter. I'd sell it for $7k. I'll send pics if you're interested.

We want one too. The big downside, though is payload, which is only 4 tons, before chip box, hoist, and tool boxes, which can easily add up to 2 tons. After you subtract tools, personnel, fluids, ect you might not have much more than a ton left. So you have to do something like using a aluminum box and having minimal tool boxes in order to have any payload capacity. They are really nice trucks though.

After talking with a couple folks, it seems like I might need to go bigger, I'm pulling a Woodsman 15x through the hills of Vermont. That being said, if anyone has a Dodge 5500, C5500 with duramax, or an f550 (no 6.4l) they want to sell, hit me up. I'm looking for an auto with good tool storage.

What's that woodsman 15x weigh? We pull a bandit 990 with our F550 (7.3 6 speed) and I don't think I'd really want to tow a heavier chipper through the hills while being fully loaded. Specs say this one weighs between 5800 and 6800 lbs. I've never had it across any scales. Don't get me wrong, I think the truck would do it. It would just be a struggle I wouldn't want to put it through on a daily basis. I'd want something like a 300 hp version C7 in an F750 if I was going to tow a 9k lb chipper around. With a 15" you've probably going to fill up a chip box pretty fast. We have filled up our 11' 6" box on our F550 multiple times in a day. Having a 14' box would be nice with a 15" chipper. BTW I have a fuso FH that I've used for years doing tree work. I wouldn't want to use it to tow a chipper that size. It has the 5.0L turbo diesel mits motor in it with a 5 speed.

The chipper weighs in around #7500 give or take. Right now I pull it with a 2002 f450, 7.3 l auto. It's a little slow, but gets the job done. I think I'll be fine with a newer diesel in the 550 chassis class. I need the 4x4 for the roads here and also travel on lots of dirt roads with weight restrictions, so I think the 550/5500 is a good size for me. Also, lots of jobs I can leave chips on site.

I'm interested. Send me pics/info?

I have a 2008 F550 for sale but it’s 2 wheel drive. It’s on TreeBay if anyone’s interested but I understand the need for 4wd in Vermont. I’m in Maine but it’s mostly level roads here.

The fuso has 69k miles, manual trans, an exhaust brake, and 4 wheel drive. It looks like the frame has been reinforced. I was given receipts for a new clutch and exhaust system done at 43k miles.

The biggest problem to fix is the rust at the wheel wells/cab floor. There are other issues, not as involved as patching the floor in my opinion, but they will need addressed. I can list them if/when there is serious interest.

I have a 2003 Fuso FG 640 4x4 with an I pack toolbox and 11ft dumping chip box custom built to meet GVW constraints.
No rust. Best truck I have ever owned hands down. I may be interested in selling.

Obviously not first in line on this one but intersted in your truck if you did put it up for sale. Looks like what I’ve been looking for.

The bad is that it just turned 200k.
The good is that you wouldn’t know it by the way it drives and lack of oil consumption or leakage.
