Matt Cornell Rope Saddle

Unfortunately the saddle maker is a serious artist, building big dollar ($10,000-$30,000) saddles for rich white folks, playing cowboy on their gentlemen horse ranches. Dude has zero interest in getting into a tree saddle building endeavor for a bunch of demanding, needy, poor arborists. Can you blame him?

I would think that if Matt had any interest in continuing production of his saddle he would have done so already? Its a cryin' shame that this beautiful saddles is no longer available, but it shouldn't be very difficult to produce a close facsimile, and possibly even better, if one was to find the right craftsmen.

I’ve heard of some skilled Amish leather craftsmen that already work in the arb suppoy industry ... but we’ve really better not talk about them

I have not heard anything of patents on this saddle, have you, Steve? Right to sell given by the developer is not the same and this is a very old saddle design.

Yes to the best of my recallection from Matt himself. He entered into a signed agreement with Treeshit and they basically own the rites to produce this saddle. When the hypocrite Bonner pulled it I understood them to consider selling it under another name with out Matt's involvement, Seems that never happened instead they moved on to selling things they don't have. So basically Matt entered into a partnership, the partner sold him out over political bullshit and lack of a spine and threw Matt and his saddle out with the trash. Great business ethics. I gotta be honest, I hate them and Bonner so much I have gift cards I won't even use for them.

Until 2022.

That stinks! They should release him from the agreement immediately.

I am indifferent to his beliefs and think he is entitled to hold and express any opinion he likes.

But if Sherrill tree wants to or feels compelled to mix business and politics or beliefs, that is their choice.

However, shouldn't they at least have the decency to let him continue as best he can without them?

Free the Matt Cornell!

Perhaps if he took singlejack's mods and produced a saddle, there would be enough of a change to be legal for him to produce it.

I think I'll wear an arm band at geezers in support. I don't recall anyone else using an MCRS there last year except maybe JB.

If you look at this industry, many of the major manufacturers are frequently stealing others designs, making small tweaks and selling them. Seems it would be very easy for someone to take Matts design, make some small tweaks/improvements, and sell the shit out of them! Can you say Pre-Order?

Great find @Tuebor . I have hashed this out on these forums pages on pages on pages. I detest Sherrill, Treestuff and Bonner for what they did and how they treated Matt over some stupid bullshit a few people got their feelings hurt over. Pure hypocrisy in my opinion. They screwed him so badly. It's a shame. I don't agree with Matt's words or his choice to type those words but I do understand his rite to free speech. Bonner will only saddle up to whoever can propel his little empire forward. He uses and throws away. I personally know of some pretty interesting facts about the takeover and know of some employees who left both companies and he was the driving factor. It's sad really, mostly on the subject of Matt. Then it also sucks for all of us who were sold a saddle to last a lifetime and then after investing $500 we are left with a saddle that, based on manufacturers recommendations, is goof for 6 months to a year. Mainly because they killed the rebuild parts as well. So not only did they screw Matt they took all our money and threw us out with the saddle. I couldn't even sell if if I wanted to because it's not rite to sell life safety gear with parts needing replacement. They at least coulda kissed me before .........well you know. I'll never spend a dime with them again. Never.

The mcrs is the first harness that I liked everything about. I waited too long and never saved up for it, then they pulled it. So I ended up getting a treemo and its great and all but I still want to get one. I really hope someday somone puts the mcrs or something just like it back in production.

This is a bummer. I had no idea about the discontinuation of the harness. I’ve been so happy on my onyx I never glanced at it but this is a shameful bait and switch.

I thinks everybody pretty much knows how I feel about the whole thing so I wont open old wounds. I'm sad mine just doesn't fit me anymore. It was the best saddle I've owned. I hung on to it just incase. Unfortunately its adjustability is limited by the belt sizes. Cant make a size 2 belt any smaller. Last grommet for the belt and it still rides up terrible. No adjustment is gonna help that. I have all the spare parts though. Bought up some bridges and rebuild kits before treeshit killed it for good. Funny thing is Matt had a new version ready to go into production. It was heads and tails improved over the ones out there on the market.
Can you just pop another gromet in there to be able to tighten it up?

I think the arb world really needs to wake up and realize how bad Sherrill is for our industry. At a time when a lot of the innovations within our industry come from working arbs and Sherrill screws them all over because they are not big businesses so not worthy of any respect. I wouldn't piss on Tobe if he was on fire.

Did you see the news, some investment company in CO has bought out Sherrill. One of Tobe's conglomerates. Its on drip line
