At the end of my lanyard length I pulled about 8" or less of core put of the tail, cut it, fold up the rest, stitched up the sides, then whipped it. Then at some point added a random wrap at the bottom. Thanks for the compliment@CutHighnLetFly; Is that end just whipped, externally, or is it stitched together somehow? I couldn't get the larger photo to load on my handheld computer. Thanks. Beautiful splice work, by the way. Nice going.

My first doublebraid. Thanks for the lesson, @rope-a-dope .View attachment 47858 My first doublebraid. Thanks for the lesson, @rope-a-dope .
But gained a comrade in fibers. Don't worry, Reed- instead of giving you money, I'll be asking for pointers. So much better, don't you think?
That took me about 2 1/2 hrs maybe 3@BEH2202; How long would you guess it took you to splice up those two eye to eyes? Thanks. Beautiful looking work, by the way.

Second double braid- 3/4" bull rope, unsure of manufacturer/name. The eye ended up a little baggy.
Any critique?
