IMG_1162.webp IMG_1161.webp Working the little machine too heavy.....again! Right drive motor pooped. Masdam with 2:1 was an easy pull. 2600lb machine.

I didn't. First time I rolled it. Last time it was hoisted. Should I ?
I had the machine off so the system had no pressure.

I thought that the valves would hold pressure in the lines, independent of the hydraulic pump not being on. If I'm parked on a slope, shut off the machine, and release the pressure on the tracks' wheel motors (if my terminology is correct), the machine is not going to move, like a bicycle with a freewheel.

Does that make sense?

I'm not well-versed in hydraulics.

Did the tracks not resist you when rolling, or was it because the wheel motor was bad? Is there not two wheel motors?

Yes each side has a motor. And no it didn't resist being rolled. I don't know hydraulics either. It will creep if left on a slope so it probably has an issue. It rarely bothers me though. I just stay on the controls when working on a slope.

The creep I don't think indicates any issues as my brand new ditch witch creeps on a slope, even with the parking brake engaged.

I can park on a slope, no parking brake. Overnight it will have moved. Under 300 hours on machine.

At what rate does your machine creep? Has this progressed with use/ wear?

Puget sound waterfront view pruning. And ivy removal...yay! Not really. Pulled some off with a rigging rope and up the bank. Pull and throw. Yep, as a change of pace I got a stuck a throw line, and then another.

View of Hope Island State Park, a short paddle across from a 500 home community at the end of the peninsula.

60' TIPs for working over the bank, and atop the wobbly old cherry trees.

Dry conditions allowed a lightweight flatbed trailer down to the worksite, backing downhill through a tight gate. Chipping would have been an all uphill mini drag to the road 100+' away.
Old school "chainsaw chipping" for a lot. Just enough traction to get out.
