First Double Braid Splice

I initially thought this was Cougar Orange, but upon closer inspection, appears that it is Yale Blaze. Came in a bag of rope.

Anyway, here's my first try at a double braid eye splice. Followed Samsons Class I double braid splice instructions.

Critique as you see fit.

Blast from the past. I'll likely get flamed for this but I have several life support spliced products I've spliced. Haven't broken any of them and I feel confident now that I understand more of the process and why's to it.
 
Welcome to a probably large club. I've been splicing life support stuff for around 10-12 years and never had it tested.
 
Someone told me once...

Splicing isn't magic, follow the instructions without cutting corners and if it closes, it holds.

If a good splice maintains approximately 90% of the breaking strength of a given rope and a knot can reduce a rope by 40%, then that gives the splicer a 30% margin of error. Just made that up, but it makes sense to me.
