Bucket truck price

Get a decent chipper and a bucket. Both will make you money to allow you to upgrade to something bigger and newer.

When you start buying big toys the payments going out to the bank every month will make your mortgage payments seem rather small.
Two well placed points. I did forget to mention that I'm putting half or a little more down. I could buy it out right but I'm building my credit so this will help me.

Haha yeah I'm scarred of the day my landlord tells me I can't store my trucks and stuff. I wouldn't know what to do..
Get to know an old farmer. WIN WIN. You get space and he gets chips if he wants and wood.
I have some lined up that Ive known for years. I pick a location closest to me or where I work the most.

@flyingsquirrel25 Yep I've read both the thread about the fuel tank and the thread about gas chippers in general. I am trying to not be that guy who asks questions that have already been answered elsewhere. My dealer has a 1390 w/o a winch 130hp gas that is currently being run around by him to demo by whoever, he said he can bring it out any time and I am excited! I wonder how big of a difference the 165hp would make in it? @flyingsquirrel25 do you have a video of yours chipping wood like 12-15" hardwood?

If you have a machine to feed the winch less chipper with it's worth demoing. I wouldn't buy one with out, it is a decent time and back saver. I do not have a video, I should have got one today of black willow 17" going through. But I didn't think about it. I do have an entire tray of brush going through on video. I'll see if I can't get it to upload later. If not I might have to send it by text message. I will try to remember to grab a video Monday on our silver maple removal.

Seriously! Get to know as many farmers as you can! The longest drive to a dump spot is 10-15 min for us...usually under 10. They let us park trucks there too.

We just hired new kid who grew up on a farm...knows even more farms/dump spots!

I used to be that kid. Didn't grow up on one but was living on a farm at the time. Picture a hidden 32 acres nestled in the middle of an over developed community and surrounded by trees. It was a mini paradise.

I got the dealer to send me pricing for the basic chippers plus how much each individual option would cost. Theres SO MUCH extra stuff that i wouldn't even think of getting. Theres even 3 different options for the 130hp GM engine all to do with the clutch it seems. But all I need to worry about is:
-Winch
-Autofeed
-Lift and crush
-40 gallon gas tank

Right?

Hydraulic jack, Hydraulic shoot rotation it all seems nice but its probably overkill. Is there anything practical that I should beef up say, the axles? Theres 8 10 and 12k axles. You know? anything like that, that might make sense to beef up.

If you get one of the big mothers, ones with tandem axles, your arm will tell you why to buy a front hydraulic jack. Those are heavy and nothing sucks worse at the end of the day, crankin' on a hand jober so you can dump the truck before goin home.
X2 on DTS's post ^

That's the big 4... But there are a few others that are absolutely a must with this machine.
Fender supports - the fenders are only aluminum diamond plate they need steel support ... Period
10000# drop leg jack - Its overkill but man is it nice to have the big jack (that's if you don't get hydro)
Discharge adjustment - allows for up and down easily to fit truck/angle (may be standard as its not marked option on my build sheet).
Tool boxes are a nicety that can be added later, they came on mine. And I would highly recommend a Yale Chook for your winch line.

Mert, I thought the Chook was kinda gimmicky. You really like that thing? How durable is it? Think it would hold up to draging big tops and wood?

you got it!
Score a spare tire, some where.

It's on and off so much easier than any chain hook or carabiner I have ever used. They are very durable from what I can tell so far. Dragging big tops and wood it normally winds up on top not dragging on the ground. So your week point is actually the cable (rope) when talking about abrasion. Also its weight is kinda nice for tossing it around to locations you want to hook it (maybe across a top to your partner on the other side of the chipper). But be careful I can see it busting someone in the face.
I'll be honest though we broke one in half at about 50 hrs. It was a very very very silly mistake. If it had been a steel hook of any kind the cable would have broke instead and would have shut the crane job down until we could splice it up again. As it was we took the piece off and threw a biner in and kept moving. Now I have a spare just in case someone decides to have another lapse in judgement!
