Good Times

Nice looking slings... new ropes? I thought maybe the glance at the glass door/window during your throw line shot was perhaps a portent of some impending doom... but I'm sorry I ever doubted you for a second. Nice work!

Thankyou John,
the job did end up going to plan and I managed to turn lemons into lemonade as I went along so I feel it was a good result.
yes new slings and ropes going on - the Yale lines as Reg suggested are great ropes both in the hand , for tying and rigging applications - really like them though a hundred or so feet of the 19mm is heavy in a direct pull off the harness.
the new T-rex tenex is waxy but picks less is a bit stiff when splicing but I seem to like it at this stage - we will see how it performs over time.

nice video. how do you like the boots your wearing?
this is my second pair of Pfanner Zermatts
the first lasted me over 4 years
they are great for removals not so great for fine end pruning on delicate cambium the aggressive tread will mark and tear.
During summer in Oz the boots can be a little bit on the warm side but I love them in winter.
takes a couple of weeks after first wearing them for the boot to mould into your foot shape but once they have done so they become less stiff and you soon forget that they were
ever uncomfortable when straight out of the box.
I wear my old pair around the house as my comfy boots.

thanks for the info on the boots. might look into getting a pair for the rainy days. just out of curiosity how long have you been climbing?

Interesting how dead and brittle it looks. All those checks and cracks in the wood, but it still hinges like a champ and seems to have maintained its strength pretty well. Great Job Ben

thankyou Steve,
the tree was at that goldilocks stage of dead - not too dead but not too alive either - the just right butter zone of moisture still in the timber.
had they left this tree for a summer then it would have been a different beast altogether.

I don't use my zermatts in heavy rain , would be interested how they do in the snow ?
don't get much snow here :)

nice, in your videos you look like a very good climber so i was just curious how long you have been doing it. keep up the good work and posting videos i enjoy watching them.

I have had my Zermatts for about three years and they do very well in the snow! this day started out at -4f and got to about 10 above. love pfanner stuff!

Haha that is very interesting ,
I have to drive for 14 hours just to see any snow during winter it's all rain and misery here - very nice to see sunshine and snow going on.
the planner jacket you are wearing is interesting as well? I have three but haven't seen that version.
great pic :)
