Show off them splices

You couldn't bring stuff like that to Charlotte could ya? What all was in that big box anyway?
All of that was with me in Charlotte...

The prize box had two rope bags, 200' of pelican static, 120' of Tachyon, a pair of gaff guardians, a Teufelberger anti shock lanyard, a MCRS, some Rooted brand leather gloves, and some safety glasses. [emoji39]

I like the rings, always a little friction up top. They are much better to climb with compared to a block, weight -wise. I don't feel bad tossing them down onto grass from the tree because they are virtually indestructible. The blue one is retrievable in the right situation (large ring could easily get stuck in a tight crotch).

Beautiful work, @ARLO.
Thanks for the compliment TimBr. After doing a few of these I don't see how the commercial guys make any money at it, even if they are really fast. It takes me over an hour to do one, and that is if I really hurry. Then it takes another half hour to watch the paint dry.

It's almost like they're doing it just to provide good customer service, and hoping to break even on the cost of labor. They get to keep a guy splicing all day who loves doing it, paying his wages, and what they get out of it is people willing to spend their hard-earned dollars on rope from them. Hopefully while you're buying rope, you're buying other things, too. That's about all I can come up with. Luke might be able to say better.

Hey Arlo, have you spliced Tenex Tec? I've heard that T Rex is fuzzier, but your photo doesn't appear to be.
I have done a few whoopie slings, loopie slings, and eyes of various sizes in Tenex Tec. I would not call either rope "fuzzy". The only difference I noticed with TREX was that I had to be a bit more careful to avoid snagging random fibers when passing the fid between strands for Brummel splices. I am not sure if that was because the weave was a bit tighter or the fibers were a bit finer.
