Zig-Zag wear

Those of you who ran the first generation, what kind of wear life are you seeing out of them, I want to make sure it's gonna last before I buy one of the new ones, the wear points are steel correct?

stainless steel. I got to demo one of the new versions and it is really sweet. They are saying it should last 3 years under normal use. It looks bullet proof. It is super smooth, and that was using it on a friction saver. I bet if you ran it off a pulley then you could fly through a tree. I would recommend starting with it in a friction saver until you get used to how it operates.
I will buy one when they become available. They might be available now!!

I bought the original zigzag when it first came out and used it with poison ivy rope. After the recall I added rubber tubing to the connecting carabiners to prevent side loading and a dynema sling between the carabiners as a backup. Unwise I know, but I liked the zigzag so much I could not part with it. My zigzag got heavy use as it was my primary climbing system all last season. I noticed very little wear after all that use. I just recently exchanged my original zigzag with the new version. Ryan, here is the link to exchange your zigzag. http://petzl.force.com/ZIGZAGRecallWebForm1posted
Petzl will give you a shipping lable to send your old zigzag to them at no cost. After they recieve your old one they will send a new version in a couple weeks.

I'll be standing at the end of my block waiting for the FedEx truck all day today. It's better than Christmas. I haven't been satisfied with any hitch setup since the recalled my zz. It was just so amazing to climb on.

Attached with one leg of the anchor bridge climbing system. Extends it out for long humps up then just like the abs ill reclip the biner to my bridge to bring the zz back in to closer reach. What I found during round 1 of the zz is about 20' up it basically tends it's own slack. I'll be interested to see if my 10" stiffy keeps the rr far enough away from the zz to safely climb srt on it with my vortex. Just wondering cause the cougar it's on is 11.7 and I think vortex is 12.5 or 13mm. Little bit thicker. At first I thought a micro biner would be best but now I think the dmm o is long enough to keep the eye away from the top of the friction links. We shall see. Any other cool setups?

It does pretty well. Just have a hard time dialing in the hitch set up. RR grips fine and advances ok. Sometimes I do wonder if a stiffer line would work better. It's just in such good shape I hate to replace it already. I might not buy it again though. I just don't srt enough to make an educated judgement. Mostly I bought it because I loves the velocity but changed to the cougar for the zz

Best hitch cord combo I found for the Vortex in ddrt for me was the Armur Plus 10mm in a 5 wrap Blakes when I footlock. Although now I usally just grap the Uni.

The one gadget I don't own yet is the ZZ, however I really want to pair one with a RR and use it srt.....ya ya, I know. Not for Srt.

I'm not sold on the srt warning. The only possible problem I can see is the rope wrench sitting ontop of the zz and causing an inadvertent descent. Honestly looking at it with the dmm o, the rw should be so far above the zz especially when you use a stiffy. As of now with the friction chain totally elongated, the top of the dmm o is even with the top link of the zz. Also that rubber gasket they put in the zz is tight. You really have to work your biner into it. I can't see the accidental rw resting on the zz

Ah, thanks Nick. ;)

Steve, I can see why this ruined a hitch for you. I got mine today. Very nice. Smooth as glass with a wrench too. I'll need to make a shorter wrench tether for it.
