Your favorite apple?

Northern Spy, now thats a man size apple!

Since I was eleven yrs old till late teens I workd Saturday and most Wednesday mornings selling what was in season with good ol Ray Butler from Delhi.

Two of the best things in the world I learned to appreciate from the man is Apples and Tobacco.
Quit me the frankenstein of the Herb world but eat me my weight in apples this time of year in a month or so.

Visit your local market or orchard.
They need your support.

God love Ray and the smokey train of tobacco that followed him every where.

Cheers

Macoun and golden delicious....
on a cold fall morning right off the tree..Thats' good..

I was the apple inspector for the state of Massachusetts for a short while...(too much politics for me)..

Jonagold.

Frax - I'm a fan of serviceberries...never heard them called Saskatoons down here though.

And native persimmons if they're ripe! If they're not, they taste like poison!

Those Winsaps are a late variety but November 18 seems late any year...

When I ran the orchard it was picked and in storage by this time of year.

we watched for frost and some varieties did get sweeter if we got a couple of cold nights on them :)

No, I took care of south of Boston to Worcester and only worked in the western part of the state when needed..Did go to visit various orchards during the winter with the local inspector, but don't remember the names.

I did have one RI Greening tree in the orchard I took care of, and you are correct, they put hair on your chest all right.. Some people would put salt on them.
