A tug, the sense that something is not right and a feeling of being detached (not the finger but yourself) from the event. When my finger tip from just above the last knuckle was snapped off it didn't bleed all that much. I cursed, grabbed the first aid kit, got some gauze and wrapped it all up. I am, unfortunately, a member of this club as well. Snowblowers don't give a damn about flesh and bone. Long story, but the results basically the same as you, TH. Almost zero pain, just pulled the machine back up the driveway, started my truck, and went inside to tell the wife and wrap it up.
