Work Photos

I did take the privilege of swimming after finishing the work. That was amazing. Pretty much solidified my thought that I prefer a mountain river over the ocean.
I couldn’t pick one over the other. Two different animals, both amazing and revitalizing.
I can pick one ocean over the other though.

How did the house fair with the high water?
It was fine, but that wasn’t the case before the bank was rebuilt several months ago. I was told that the bank had washed out up to the foundation. There was a big permitting process and huge expense to rebuild and fortify the bank. Now plant life has to finish the job by holding everything together. They don’t want to lose any existing plants on the bank, and much more will be added as time goes on.

I've been pretty scarce around these parts, just super busy in the summer and avoiding the computer other than necessary emails...

Work today, ~130' dead grand fir, one of about a million on the area... which I'm not looking forward to in the coming years. The nest was empty by the way, but neat to see before sending the top, which exploded into thousands of pieces it was so brittle. Had the tree stripped to a bare stick in about an hour.

Super views.

Hang on... (no pun intended).

Not knowing much about knuckle boom cranes myself, (and maybe just not noticing it in other peoples photos all this time....) I'm guessing that little jib sticking past the main pick point what the climber ties into? Is that tree-work specific or do lineman and other industries have and take advantage of that system? Seems pretty slick.

I've worked around stick cranes with people tying into the hook, or an attachment point just above the hook years ago, before knuckle booms became common, I imagine this is the same idea just separated from that space?
