Woodsman 18x winch

Woodsman 18x owner here. Having issues with the rear infeed winch hydraulic motor “twisting/torquing” while winching/pulling heavy limbs, logs.
the winch setup has a lever to slide in and out the winch motor to free or engage the winch. However there is nothing holding the winch motor down allowing it to twist under load.
there are no missing parts. It seems like this winch setup design has gone through many different design configurations. Any other woodsman 18x model owners run into this issue? What did you do to remedy it. I’ve attached my winch setup, as you can see nothing securing winch motor and slide firmly to base.

I am not a Woodsman owner, nor have I ever used one. However, in the first photo, I see a small plate attached to the “winch motor sliding plate” that sits against the rotating shaft near the winch drum. That plate may be adjustable, if it is and you slide it up towards the winch shaft, the motor will no longe be able to rotate freely.

Alternatively, have a pair of L-shaped plates made up to secure the motor much more permanently as is shown in your las photo.

Edit: I see a slot in the fixed plate the motor slides on. Is there or should there be a bolt or two from that plate up through the motor slide plate to keep everything lined up? If so, that will also provide your torsional control.

They are unmatched in supporting Woodsman machines. He was employed by Woodsman and continued when Terex took over. When Terex dissolved Woodsman, Paul and a couple other employees bought everything. Jigs, parts, blueprints, you name it. He has helped me tremendously.

Not sure if this is your issue or applies. I've seen hydraulic motors receive a weld in/on spline shaft, in the case of ancient morbark chipper feed wheels, this was a 'break' away or engineered failure point.
Maybe unbolt the motor and pull it away from the shaft that engages the winch? I do see a distinct weld on the shaft coming from the motor.

In the first photo you see the mounting bracket that the flange is bolted to, and the shaft goes through. Perhaps, and where I'd start is unbolting the motor flange from the mounting bracket... Perhaps there are bolts from the flange to the motor that are hidden by the bracket. These could be sheared? Regardless it sounds like something is going on between the shaft that engages the winch and the motor. Just a few bolts to disassemble and inspect.
