Women\'s Tree Climbing Workshop - 9/26/9

Yahoooo! A Tree Climbing Workshop Just for Women!
Sponsored by the New England Chapter ISA

Date: Saturday, September 26th
Time: 8-4 pm (Group Dinner to follow)
Where: Arnold Arboretum, Jamaica Plain (Boston), MA
Instructors: New England Chapter Champion Climbers: Marcy GLaddys,2009-08, Bear Scovil ('7), Melissa LeVangie ('1-6); World Champion: Kathy Holzer (and possibly Wenda Li).

Learn how to climb trees or develop your skills from top women climbers in a newbie friendly, open & sharing environment. Network with other women arborists.

The workshop will have varied skill stations such as:
- Intro to tree climbing
- Skill development
- Advanced techniques

Instructor to student ratio will not exceed 10:1. Space will be limited.

ISA CEUs will be available.

This is fantastic news!! Ya!!! Way to go ladies!!! Hmmm, I going to have to really think how I can swing that. :) If I can't make it this time though I'll be there in spirit.

We really want to do this out West also. Maybe in R.I. I can pick your brain about how you all are doing it. Sounds really awesome!!

we could all share rooms that would make it a little bit more affordable - MY HERO is there - I wonder - fly in - share cars?

can you think of anyplace you would rather big - New England in the fall?

Will the leaves have started to color by that time?

Your right!! On top of the cool workshop it's Fall Color there. Wow!! That is pretty cool!! Hmmm. Still thinking... Sherry, you'll be in R.I. won't you? We can talk there. :)

Sorry to say, I had to back out of RI - i did have a chance to be in the ring again. BUT I have grandchild and work (more on that later)

THere is interest here for the workshop - again - I have some work things that will make or break the trip

Rock on... Duff is that you?? - We pretty sure we've identified a hotel nearby with a very reasonable rate (for Boston area) of $109/nite! More info coming soon, keep you eyes posted on the calendar page of the NEC-ISA website.

So far the word of mouth is spreading fast. I've already had 4 women, not currently climbing arborists ask me if the could come 'to learn'. HECK YES!! :)

Good stuff. Hope to see you all at the Women's Networking Breakfast on Tuesday in Providence.

Very cool event! We need to organize something like this in the midwest. I'm not going to be able make it because it's the same date as the Illinois Tree Climbing Competition. But I did make it out to climb today...good times.

Rhonda... you rule gurl! You are our official first registrant!

The goal is to 'record' this template to share with other Chapters. Kathy, Wenda and I (and I'm sure others) hear regularly from Chapters that they'd like to get more women involved...well I think this is a great step in the right direction. :)
